I am after a pay and go phone for my mums birthday on O2 and most of the phones I have got from them have been unlocked with a seperate pay and go sim card. Are all of them like that as all phone are more expensive on O2 for some reason.

3 ones!!
Thats cool, and will be no branding either then:thumbsup: She will only have a nokia too as used to the menus etc and she is 64 so nothing too complex lol. Any recomendations?

Thinking maybe this carphonewarehouse.com/mob…PAY

Is it deffo likely to be unlocked on voda or vigin as not available on O2 on there and only 20 quid with a tenner top up which I can sell plus 5 quid quidco. (before anyone calls me a cheap skate its not the only pressie lol) Just needs to be simple and most simple ones are cheap.

Some cheap samsung ones but the menus and texting aint as simple.

There is no guarantee it won't be locked, its not advertised as being unlocked,so obviously they aren't oblidged to supply an unlocked one, you'd have to ring the sales line and ask first,

There is defo a higher risk of getting a locked one from their online shop as obviously they can carry a larger stock of handsets,it makes more sense for their high street stores though to space save by having simfree phones they can sell with any sim
I was gonna get it online but will go to a shop this time and just ask them before I buy. Plus if it comes in a nokia box there is more chance its a sim free model too.
You'll miss out on your quidco though,if you ring the online sales they should be able to tell you if its unlocked,if you don't want to make it obvious you intend to switch networks immediately you can say you may be taking it on holiday and need to know if it will accept a foreign sim
