    Are CEX having a laugh?

    Wow, I've always been happy to post CEX online deals and have talked them up, despite some people claiming they're not so good. I was basing this on the shop side of things being decent enough and I couldn't possibly believe that the online shop could be that bad!

    So I put in an order for a copy of Million Dollar Baby on Blu Ray on April 29th. It sits there on 'Stock picking in progress' for about three days and then sat there on 'awaiting dispatch' right up until yesterday, which pissed me off enough. As others have mentioned, they didn't bother to reply to ANY of my (progressively angry) emails until this morning when they replied to the very first one saying it had been dispatched yesterday... Well duh.

    But to really make the whole thing hilarious, they have sent me the Blu Ray in a PS3 case which will now look stupid next to all my Blu Rays- but the real stickler is that the cover for it was printed off from a ******* PC! I initially noticed because the back cover looks like a pirate, but what really gives it away is the fact that it's not been cut straight along the edges.... Oh and of course there's no certificate anywhere to be seen.

    Unbelievable! Never buy from CEX online!

    Wow! Send it back to them that is shocking

    I'm guessing someone sold it to them like that and they didn't check it.

    They can manually enter it on their system.

    Pretty shocking though.

    if you're really annoyed report them to trading standards....its a criminal offence under the trademarks act to supply a copy cover.
    As for the certificate thats perfectly legal, games/dvds don't need certificates to be sold at the moment

    The site has been earmarked for demolition, with planning permission granted on the site. I expect they know they will soon be moving, so won't be much investment in the shop.

    I agree though, it as a bit of a grotty dingy place.

    Since December almost all my Blu Ray's have come from Cex, instore only.
    My take on cex is that they can be very picky when you exchange items but not so
    bothered about checking them when you purchase.I always make sure I see the discs
    now before accepting as I have had a couple of discs with scuffed digital copy's and one
    The International was 2 discer in a rental box with both discs on the one spindle and
    deep scratches but overall I would recommend them ,instore only though.:thumbsup:

    I used online Cex once to buy a xbox game & they sent me a really tatty copy so never used them again.
    off topic i exchanged a game yesterday instore & the expiry date on the voucher is May 3010 :w00t::thinking:

    I wouldn't use ANY online store without a telephone helpline.

    If it's the proper cover they've printed it from it could have a valid barcode.

    I've only used them once online (I never go instore because it's filthy) and my order came fine...football factory blu-ray for a 5er ;-)

    I have absolutely no objections to the in-store part of their business, you can look at what you're buying if you have the remotest concern, after all. I just thought I'd give it a try online as there were no copies in my local store and I'd just missed out on a copy in a thread on here. I was half expecting the poor/non-responsive customer service, but not what I actually received in the post this morning. If it had just been the PS3 case, I would've been miffed but accepted it. Giving me a copy with a blatantly iffy cover is just taking the **** lol...

    Someone mentioned that if it had the right barcode, it may still have scanned but it does actually say "NOT AUTHORISED FOR SALE OR RENTAL OUTSIDE THE USA AND CANADA", so they must have manually input it. I just can't believe they accepted it in the first place, I would have taken one look and said "erm, no."

    Any Region 1 DVD should not be sold in the UK - a Trading Standards matter. The fine is only a few thousand though, which shouldn't matter to them... Unless FACT want to martyr them.

    I think they only buy in abused DVDs as company policy. They recently made a mess of my Paypal payments - losing data. They then imposed an unknown charge on me - a guess, maybe, from someone else's account. The credit company is saying I have to take it up with them - difficult if you get no answers from [email protected] Looks like I'll have to sue both, then.

    I would rather pay amazon or play and have a description of the state of items I am buying, not to mention their having customer service departments for returns. I got rid of my vouchers as soon as I read about their insolvency proceeedings on the net (moneysavingforum).

    From what I read on other forums and here, they seem to want to lose customers one by one. They have been successful in that with me.

    Is this actually something you could report them to trading standards for? I'm starting to think I should, just purely because they deserve a kick up the arse. They've told me I should send it back and that they'll refund me the postage if I have proof (via a cheque, that I'd inevitably have to chase up forevermore, for the sake of £1.60...), but I'm wondering why I should have to mess about going to the post office etc...

    It's not a 'Region 1' or the US equivalent (can never remember if the US is A or B), it's just got a US cover.

    I spoke to Consumer Direct yesterday, and all I'm entitled to do is write them a letter explaining that I want a refund and that I will have to accept their offer to return it and then get postage back via cheque. They're passing the report onto Trading Standards for them to check out, but there's little chance they'd do anything if the disc is genuine. I guess I may as well just give in, CEX don't give a **** either way.

    i bought the simpsons hit and run xbox software for 4.00 pounds. i thought it werent so bad .until i found out how long it took.24 hour dispatch.i think it means 60 hour dispatch!! it still says awaiting dispatch.COME ON CeX, HURRY UP!!!!1
