    Are happli.co.uk reliable (IPAD 2 16GB - £199)?

    Banned
The Daily Mirror was advertising a full page brand new IPAD 2 16GB for £199 from happli.co.uk so my Mum bought one. I thought this was cheap and looked into it and it seems happli are like groupon and the actual ipad is being shipped by 1234buy.co.uk.

Looked into 1234buy and their address is a Petrol station in Bromley in what looks a really run down area. Has scam written all over it if you ask me.

Anyone else buy the ipad and receive it?

Luckily, she paid via credit card.

Didn't buy it myself, but can't find any reviews on these guys at all (1234buy), positive or negative. Keep us posted.

I live in the borough of Bromley, though it is one of, if not the biggest London Boroughs, I might know the location.

still on their site priced at £339 so went to buy to see what payment types accepted and get this message which is worrying:-

This is probably not the site that you are looking for!
You attempted to reach 1234buy.co.uk, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as wmasters.co.uk. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of 1234buy.co.uk.
You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site.

First time I have heard of Happli. Must admit, their site and set-up looks fairly nice. If they haven't made sure this 1234buy is capable of supplying what is being sold, Happli is going to be very short lived.

That is who I would be contacting. Happli in my opinion have a responsibility.

It is worrying CSI, a clone of his original site with a few company name changes, address changes, etc. Can not be sure, but that would make me worried. Almost as if they have set-up this secondary business to just drive it into the wall.

It's Penge, not Bromley (which is a nice town).

Penge IS the poorest part of Bromley. It is predominantly a black area. That postcode is coming up as Hawthorne Grove in Penge, though Croydon Road is between Beckenham and Croydon. It's not a bad area at all. Those houses along this road will be a £1m and up. (use SE20 7YZ as your search in google maps)

So it can be fairly certain it's a scam if they can't even match their postcode and road!

See if you can contact Happli, it would be great to know if the company has any customer service to back up such a pretty website haha

I'm the same situation! I bought one then was like omg this has to be a scam! I then emailed happli and they emailed back saying its a genuine deal, they said I could cancel and get refund if I want, I then phoneed this s 1234, and they too assured me it's a genuine apple iPad. The support team at happli then emailed me again and said that if I'm not happy when I get it I can get refund. Fingers crossed it all goes through- apparantly they had 120 units to sell and they went by 8.30am. I Must admit though it all sounds too good to be true though, an iPad for 200? And a case?!

Thats for 1234buy.com but thx anyway

I honestly don't know. Happli itself appears to be a credible company- part of the trinity group? And apparantly I read pple post on Facebook that the mirror had run huge adverts about this deal which is why pple were so annoyed that there were only 130 units. I just hope they honour it as I paid by debit crd!! They wouldn't accept my Amex whch at least would have given me some protection!
The customer service at happli so far has been helpful but again let's see what happens. The guy I spoke to at 1234 said that actual delivery may be within 14 not 28 days as advertised
Will post here if and when I get the ipad

cheers - happli are like groupon who often have scam deals albeit beyond their reasonable control......

130 units sounds reasonable though as it was a full page spread costing thousands in the mirror so maybe happli subsidised 1234buy in order to get web awareness....

    stupid website name mind you

Interesting! 2 Croydon roads within a mile of each other with similar postcodes! I bet the postmen have fun with that one!

Don't know this location at all, but it's going towards Penge which is grot ville. Is it the Jet petrol station?

Will have to keep an eye on Happli. They are for sure the underdogs with Groupon and Gumtree as their rivals.

I hope it works out for them, but the cloak and dagger nature of those 1234buy/wmaster websites doesn't fill me with confidence.

Can you go into any details?

Yes, I am the company director of an Irish Dealsite, I ran a deal for a guy that initially called himself Gerald Taylor (Since Gerald Tawiah & now DARRYL TAWIAH) from a company called Wholesale Masters, we ran the 1st deal for Samsung TV's, I put a cap on 11 of them, just as a safety precaution, sent money over for them to be dispatched and we were given Royal Mail tracking codes, and ran the next 3 deals. We sold hundreds, so rather than transfer money to an unknown company I suggested we pick them up on a truck and delivery them to royal Mail ourselves a few days later and giving them a bankers draft, knowing if they were a legitimate company they would be delighted. They came up with some lame excuses and said they couldn't fulfill this order as they needed immediate payment for immediate dispatch, which we would never do as customers have 7 days cancellation clause. I then found out that the first tracking codes were were for HDMI cables, not televisions that we paid for. Since then I got confirmation from Wowcher and Qype deals that they had also been conned. They have now a similar content to the wmasters.co.uk site to their new one 1234buy.co.uk. Also on the privacy policy on the new site it says contact [email protected]wholesalemasters.co.uk
I before had never heard of the happli dealsite, but have spoken to them today and they are taking this very seriously and investigating into this now, I wouldn't hesitate to say that Happli were in the exact same position as we found ourselves in, and will do everything in their power to keep their customers money safe and will refund the customers, if their investigations prove that they are unscrupulous con artists behind 1234buy.co.uk.
On every deal, dealsites have to take calculated risks on providing deals for their customers, whether its a restaurant / hotel that may close down, or a postage deal, all we can do is make sure that the customers money is safe, and many times we take a financial hit ourselves for merchants that we are running deals with... so all I can say is be patient with us, we don't always get it right, but we do protect your payments -- Well, we do, as a company.. anyway!!
    I hope it helps
