Are the zero lines of drink actually good for you?

As per title, I was just wondering if such products like coke/fanta zero are actually any better for you? They taste exactly the same, but claim to have very few calories. Does this mean then that its as good as water for you? Or do they fill it with sugar type bases that have fewer calories, but similar negative effects on teeth and digestion (the feeling of being bloated) etc?

Discuss...

Thanks
David

im with you pink!!

No carbonated drinks are "good" for you, yes they may contain less calories, but the aspartame they use to sweeten them is debated on a lot for possible risks.

In what way though. I just thought they were bad due to the extortionate calorie content. Please explain...

totally agree with you on the aspartame - try not to buy things with it in - soo hard though

is aspartame the stuff that gives you epilepsy?

Cancer, mainly. Although, other risks connected to Zero and diet drinks are increased acidity, which will play hell with your teeth.

ok its extreme!!!http://www.aspartamekills.com/

aspartame = death :?

There is no accepted scientific proof regards the affects of Aspartamine - hence why it's allowed in food and drink.

The Zero drinks are obviously better for you, as they contain no sugar, therefore would not give you the large calorie intake the sugar containing drinks do, nor some of the associated dental problems.

They will however have the same effects any carbonated drink does on the body, such as increased acid production in the gut and increased wind.

They are therefore not as good for you as water - not by a mile.

ill stick with the sugar every time-sugar rots your teeth, additives rot your mind . . . . . i can buy a new set of gnashers

Hi just a quick comment reference aspartame i have been chewing extra for a while then one day i looked up what actually is aspartame and possible consequences so i wrote a quick email to wrigley who make it saying what products they do without it in and they replied saying all their chewing gums had it in.So i switched to polo sugarless and try not to drink any fizzy drinks.Hope this helps.

They are not good for you, still rot your teeth and fill you full of gas. Better for you than non-zero varieties though because they dont have the calories in

Pure fruit juices rot your teeth as well though, I would say its just a case of all things in moderation

no :-)

water and milk.. a lil juice in the morning.

No more cherry coke for me!
