    Are There Any 360........

.......flight simulator games available out there? Son has mentioned he would like one for xmas but I have only found one for the PC. Our main computer would no doubt crash and die as its so full of carp and there is NO WAY he is using my lappy!

None, closest thing will be 'Over G Fighters' or 'Ace Combat'.

If he's interested in the Sim side of things its best to get the PC Version which inlcudes Air Traffic commentary as well as the very complicated landing / takeoff procedures...

Also the PC Version allows the use of specifically designed joysticks...

Just a thought... Wouldn't it be good to get a R/C Plane?

have thought about it but nowhere round here where he could really make the most of it......he is really into the whole "want to be a pilot" thing at the moment.....gonna pack him off to the RAF as soon as hes old enough

Blazing Angels 1 &2 might be alright.

Not sure about the age limit though.

I'd go for Ace Combat - it's more of an arcade flight game than sim however there aren't any sim games for the 360 and Ace Combat is the best of the bunch for its type. It's set in modern times with a faithful and very accurate recreation of most planes ranging from the fighters to the SR-71, AWACs etc. The game focuses very much on the combat which I find very enjoyable, pulling hard dives to take out ships while avoiding their AA fire, looping around trying to avoid your opponent while hitting him back or cranking up the afterburner to get enough height to bring down a jammer planer just waiting for the stall warning to come up then releasing your missiles.

Il-2 Sturmovik: Birds of prey is coming out on PS3 and xbox next year.

It will be more realistic than most that are currently on consoles

thanks for the info guys

Bitsey - if son is seriously thinking about learning to fly - you should definitely go for the MS Flight Sim for the PC.

Last time I bought one was several years ago so I'm not too familiar with current versions but they did used to have "interactive" flying lessons. Coupled with a decent joystick and rudder pedals it would help develop his co-ordination.
