    argos insurance

    Bought a TV from argos 10 months ago took insurance out 12 months it was ex display and now the TV is faulty (sound bit no picture) what is the likely outcome when I take it back help or advice appreciated

    Was it insured via Domestic&General? Depends on value of TV. If not a high value item it will not be worth a repair, you will be offered a token-geture amount, then when you kickoff and start a thread on HUKD you will be offered full purchase price in vouchers.     they are pretty good, phone the number and they send someone around to fix it, or take it into store and get a replacement, but if you do that the cover ends.

    You will be offered basic model replacement. Seriously, read the previous thread about D&G and Argos.

    I worked for them years ago and if things haven't changed you can use the insurance to get a replacement tv in store. if the same tv isn't available you will get the value you paid to put to another.

    Also when you claim on the insurance the insurance is then spent and used up. You can only claim on it once.

    Other option is to use manufacturers warranty, I would check with local store on what the policy is for that though, as when I worked there some manufacturers stated the customers had to arrange the repair. Others were left in store and sent away for repair by Argos.

    I bought a new tv (not recon or ex display)from Argos and after 6mths was faulty , they arranged collection of faulty tv and at same time courier dropped off replacement . It was a reconditioned tv , different brand and appearance to faulty tv but same spec . My issue was that the faulty tv returned was in mint condition and the reconditioned replacement had scratches and was wobbly on its stand/base , after numerous calls finally agreed I could return recon tv to store and select a new tv but obviously pay any difference . Good end result .

    My own experience says otherwise.
    I was offered a 2016 model in place of my 2013 model with an Argos policy. TV was OOS so they gave me the full purchase price to spend at Argos.

    With a tablet damage I received a gift card to value of what I paid to choose another one.

    so it's been a while and I fell down the stairs with the TV so was a right off called argos they came and went with TV got call saying it was a right off and vouchers I. post for £569 which is for the LG 55 inch in store at the minute having only paid £311 for ex display I've done well but is the LG better than Hisense or should I stick to smaller screen and get the Sony for a similar price advice please
