hi. bought s7 edge from argos about 7 months ago. The s7 edge is glitches and doesn't back up. I did all troubleshooting and even done full reset. Argos wouldn't help and told me to contact Samsung. I refused to give my faulty phone to ups delivery as arranged by Samsung because they stated in the email that I received from them that ...Samsung does not take liability during transit? I asked them who does and they said ups. Argos refusing to deal with it also. Am I being unreasonable? I refused to hand my £640 mobile and passwords to ups with no cover incase lost or damage. am I being unreasonable?

hey can you not take it to a samsung store? and they should be able to take it in and give you a receipt..

Even if Argos took it in it would likely be via a postal service rather than a store. They'd just send it to Samsung anyway though. If you hand it to the courier you'll get a slip from them to confirm that you have handed it over. Not much else you can do really, other than push for Argos to basically send it to Samsung for you.

If you’ve had it for over 30 days but less than 1 year:

We’ll assess what’s wrong and then we’ll usually:

arrange a free repair
or send round an engineer
or offer you a refund

Argos have to make arrangements for your repair. The contract is between you and them, NOT you and Samsung...yet.

You would almost certainly find it much quicker if you contacted Samsung direct. I think Argos are (very badly) explaining that. However Argos are the legal route if you can't get a repair done via Samsung, As others say you bought from them and they have ultimate responsibility for making it right.

Any repair is 99% likely to wipe the phone anyway. If you can't back it up and don't know what you can do?

I guess you've tried a third party app to backup to the sd card? Or even back up to a cloud services?

hi thanks for all the responses. my nearest Samsung repair centre is 35miles away. the Samsung back up doesn't work. I did tell argos that they need to deal with it as I purchased the phone from them. I didn't want to hand my phone to courier with no protection. I read online many have phones lost or damaged and neither with take responsibility.

Ok, so the Samsung software to backup doesn't work. What about the hundreds of other app on the apps store?

Doesn't matter how you get it to Samsung (although I'd go direct personally, rather than having Argos throw my phone in a jiffy bag). If you don't find a way to get it backed up you will lose everything on it once they start the repair.

35 miles is nothing compared to the peace of mind you'd have!

backup seems to be broken for all s7/s7 edge samsungs. driving there and back twice would be like 140 miles in total. Deffo wouldn't buy a mobile from argos again. I will wait see if an update fix it. thanks to all for ur help

Back up the phone and take it to another Argos store. They're responsible to repair, even if they send it to Samsung.

If they tell you to contact Samsung directly then inform them of your consumer rights ect..

Simple answer is yes you are being unreasonable as are Argos. Your contract is with them and so they should deal with it within the first 12 months of purchase.

Why don't you post it via your own courier such as Royal mail Gauranteed by 1PM which has £1,000 cover on it.

Double check it though.
