what was the misprice?

£229 (for the current £299 package) advert in the daily mirror yesterday.

Loads got them last night but think Head office will have stopped it this morning.

argos sent a memo round last nite saying that they wouldnt be honouring the deal

Why's it a misprice?

Because of the UK laws on advertised prices. Its to stop companies advertising it at say £229 and then when customers come in.. they feel obliged to pay a bit more as they are allready there.

well I spoke to trading standards who are investigating the matter futher but probably nothing more than a slap of the wrist for argos

The law speaks to intent. TS would need to believe that the error was on purpose. A large company like Argos has enough good will (cynics would say enough lawyers) to assume it was an error.
