arranging a stag party in brighton help!!!!

Hi guys as title says Im arranging a stag party in Brighton this august '09 should be about 12 of us and I was just looking for any help/ideas we are up for most things on the last stag do we went coastering which was good but I would like to book the activities direct rather than go through some company looking at Friday day/Friday night, Saturday day/Saturday night, Sunday day. So any help would be appreciated hotels etc
    Cheers Rudy

Would recommend staying in West Street or North Street. Both are very central to the city centre, sea front pier etc. Both have bidget type hotels (Travel Lodge type hotels).

    What sort of budget etc?

Really depends what you want to do. Brighton is a great place and there are loads of things to do. Which weekend are you looking at? Brighton Pride is the first weekend and whilst it is buzzing with over 200,000 people having the best weekend of the year, the hotels are booked up months (usually booked a year in advance) and its very difficult to get places to stay, needless to say the prices are increased to rip off all of us who have the pink pound, with hotel prices of 150 per room per night at the lower end.

I would say avoid that weekend completely just because of the extortionate prices and lack of hotels available.

I use to book a lot of hotels through for brighton and the good thing is with that site (other than the price) you can see lots of other hotel prices at the same time so great for comparison.

I love staying at the Old Ship hotel (was Paramount hotels, now Barcelo) but it can be very expensive, probably not what you are looking for. It's right on the seafront between the two piers and is very close to the centre of town. There is a great fish and ship shop on the corner of ship street, by the hotel which was in loads of films including quadrophenia (sp??) and you cant beat walking along the seafront with a portion of fish and chips from there!!!

hi guys thanks for the feed back, not to worried about bugdet - hotels and activities about £300 to £400 per person less money spent on hotels etc more the better cheers for letting us know about the gay pride weekend will save a few bucks by missing that weekend.

For the weekend Fri 21st- Sun 23rd you can stay at the Jurys Inn Brighton, a new hotel by the train station you can have a triple room (a double and a single bed) for £99 per room per night (according to Late rooms). It has great reviews on there too, with 90% saying they would reccommend to a friend and 89% saying they would stay there again (177 reviews).

The Barcelo Old Ship hotel I mentioned which is right on the seafront is £119 per room per night for a standard twin, including breakfast (on laterooms website, but may get cheaper on own website). The breakfast is a self serve but has a huge selection to choose from, including the full english hot selection- so as much bacon sausage and eggs as you can stomach after a night out. It's one of the best breakfasts I've ever had, and as I said before, I make my annual pilgrimage there for pride every year. There are some nightclubs very close, including one or two just across the road, under the seafront arches and a more than adequate bar at the hotel.

I forgot to mention, when looking on laterooms if the price is in orange that means its a reduced rate, if its blue then thats normal.

If you are travelling down by train, consider getting a network rail card or two, they cost £20 for a year, and cover a large portion of the south of england, and on each card you can take up to 3 additional adults at the reduced rate, which is 1/3rd off. I'm sure you would make a big saving on the total cost just even using it the once. Either that or find out more about the group4save rates, as on my way back from pride last year the train guard told some people on the train they would have saved a fortune by doing that.

If you are driving, check out parking first- some hotels charge a fortune and it can be difficult and expensive to park in the city. The train station is very central, and if you leave the main exit and just keep walking, within about 5mins you'll be at the sea, passing through the main shopping area on the way!

Make sure you leave a couple of hours for a walk up the pier and some action on the slot machines/penny machines. Quite a few people hire limos etc, evenings are filled with limos going up and down the seafront with people hanging out of the windows and sunroof They even had hummer ones, which if you guys are into cars might be a nice event.

LOL @ having a stag party in Brighton.
