Emirates Chefs win Gold at Cookery Open

Emirates Stadium Head Chef Julian Jenkins and Head Chef of the Diamond Club Oleg Ibragimov have scooped Gold at the British Open Cookery Championships 2010.

This prestigious award was won by Julian and Oleg at the recently held Salon Culinaire at Hotelympia 2010, which is the UK's leading food service and hospitality event, which is considered the highest level of competition in the UK culinary calendar.

Julian and Oleg competed in the Major International Contract Catering Live Theatre Championships, which is a live cooking challenge, in which they had to prepare and create a starter and main course in one hour.

The competition was of a particularly high standard, with our chefs competing against nine other entrants, including teams from Manchester City FC, Everton FC, Newcastle United FC, as well as other large international hospitality organisations.

The creations of the Delaware North Chefs on the day proved to be a huge success, with Julian and Oleg walking away with the Gold Award, being named Best in Class', with the team also winning a Gold Award for Best Food Safety and Hygiene'.

Julian prepared the starter of Cornish crab and organic red pepper cannelloni with marinated beetroot, young shoots and major lobster foam. Oleg's main course was Best end of Southdown lamb with puy lentils, shallot puree, fondant potato and mint infused major veal jus.

The Plates were judged by an expert panel on presentation/innovation, composition, culinary preparation and practical service and had to receive a mark of 90% or more to achieve the Gold Award standard. Julian and Oleg were the only competitors to win Gold in their category.

Arsenal Football Club Head of Hospitality Russell Bodycomb said: "This is fantastic achievement by Julian and Oleg illustrates the quality of individuals we have at Emirates Stadium, both on and off the pitch. It also shows the excellence in food service that can be found at the Emirates Stadium and position us to be serious competition to the 4 and 5 star hotel market in London.

"Emirates Stadium has fantastic meeting space and is complimented by award-winning food, which makes us a unique icon venue that will stay long in the minds of visitors long after their event."

Really don't see another trophy coming Arsenal's way tbh, I would like to see them win either the league or ECL but can't see Barca or Man Utd slipping up now.

Still cook of the year it's a start.

Oleg's main course was Best end of Southdown lamb with puy lentils, shallot puree, fondant potato and mint infused major veal jus.

That'll be lamb with mashed potato and a bit of mint sauce then

Were Frogs Legs on the menu, together with sour grapes and French Whine ? :whistling:
