A 555-mile, 5-hour plane trip was flown at two speeds. For the first part of the trip, the average speed was 105 mph.
Then the tailwind picked up, and the remainder of the trip was flown at an average speed of 115 mph. For how long did the plane fly at each speed?

How many people nick those little pens in a day?

Is it true the female employees put out after £500 in purchases?

If not how easy would it be to have their contract changed to reflect this notion and £500 changed to £5?

Why do they charge £10 delivery on a £20 cot mattress but not allow me to pick it up since I live across the road from Argos?

ROFL, there is a serious shortage of those in Hemspted Valley Argos - seriously, sort it out!

why do the people at the customer service call centre and their managers make a decision on a situation only to get over ruled by the store managers and leave the customer standing in the middle of the shop looking foolish?! ( don't think you'll be able to answer that one but needless to say wasn't impressed :x )

The point of this was to be an open question and answer.

    Cheap Deals
OK, catalogue time is the best time to get the best deals. Any items that are not being included in the new catalogue (generally about 1500 lines) are split into two catagories:-

    RO - (Running Out)
    This has a few stages:-
Stage 1 - Price reduced and some items appear on the shop floors clearance sections.
This is ongoing in stores at the moment
Stage 2 - Prices reduced again around about the new catalogue launch (26th July 2008).
Stage 3 - Further prices reductions up to 75% sometimes. But availability becomes an issue.
Stage 4 - The stock is sent back to the Distribution Centres (DCs) and is then sold back to the manufacturers.

    RTM (Return to Manufacturers)
The stock is sold back to the manufacturers and this stage is commenced at the catalogue launch date (26th). This takes about 3 weeks to complete as again its in stages, however this stock is reduced again.

The shopfloors clearance section and websites clearance section are the best places to look. The website will be updated around about the 26th for the new RO and RTM. Look out for some bargains!

About pallets, an Argos Fact here lol 8/10 'damages' are not damaged. But these cannot be resold as instructions are missing, boxes bashed etc etc. These are sold to small companies really cheap and they can be bought by the pallet through these companies. A quick google search and you will find some. They wont state thats its ARGOS' pallet however but do a small check of whats in the pallet and you will find Argos only items...i.e. Warferdale, Cookworks, Mikomi etc and they even list the catalogue numbers sometimes!!!

There isn't enough interaction between call centres procedures to store procedures. However, in my own experiences the customer ALWAYS gets what they want in the end and the store manager gets the overiding decision. As we offer a silly amount of products each enquiry is different and can take them far too long to deal with. I personally think argos' customer service is shocking but this is mainly down to staffing levels( HORRENDOUS)

Used to be yeah, moved to West Kent last year though! Still spend at least a day of my week in Medway, often up at Hempsted! And can you believe it - that fish pond is gone, used to be nothing there but now replaced with one of those fast-coffee shops. Not bought anything there but my dad told me the coffee was the worst ever. Bring back the fish IMO. :x

They charge £4.95 for delivery. Home delivery items are home delivery only becuase they are USUALLY too heavy or too big for a car. Also, home delivery items are not stocks in stores. They come from out-of-town warehouses.

The other side of the stick is...I buy 100 bed, 50 tvs, 20 cooks but they only charge me £4.95 for delivery lol

I wouldn't consider a cot mattress to be too big, I could pick up a excercise bike which is double the size but not the cot mattress, confused I am.

thats a strange one yeah! The only other thing that I can think of is that the demand for this type of item must not have been high enough for it to take up a reasonable amount of space in already crammed stockrooms.

Theres something like 9000 products we store in these stockrooms so it must have been ommited due to demand.
