Aspire E5-571P or Lenovo M30?

Hi I am looking at getting a new laptop from the following website…es/

I short I have rounded down my options to two

    7th picture down

    Acer Aspire E5-571P Laptop15.6
    i7-4510U 2GHz Touchscreen
    15.6" LED 2.35Kg
    8GB DDR3, 1TB HDD
    WLAN, 3 xUSB B/T
    Windows 8.1, 64 Bit
    6 Cell Battery

    1st picture

    Lenovo M30-70 13.3"
    Laptop Core i5-4210U 1.7 GHz
    13.3 " HD 1.8Kg
    4GB DDR3 500GB HDD
    B/T W/CAM 2 USB
    Intel HD 4400
    Windows 8 64bit

The acer offers a beefier spec sheet however it is a 15 inch screen leaving it less portable versus that of Lenovo which is 13 inches or so but with a lesser cpu, hard drive and ram.

Has anyone ever had models similar or like for like? I am ok with specifications, what I am unsure of is build quality, screen, battery life.

I would be very grateful of any feedback given

I won't comment on the specs, but I am familiar with the build quality of both makes. My Acer laptop is falling to pieces, bits of plastic breaking, keys missing, screen flickering. My Lenovo laptops never had ANY build issues.

I agree with Tony about the Acer build quality.

The Lenovo looks good, however is it big enough? And are you going to miss the number pad?

I have the Asus X550LB which is built the same as the X550CA (mine has dedicated graphics and the i5 4200u). The ivy bridge i5 3337u isn't that much slower than the 4200u. As for build quality, it's definitely been great. It's plastic, but very rugged and the back has rings which are awesome and don't scratch or show fingerprints very easily. It's also very easy to clean. Furthermore the keyboard is great. It has media keys in a great place and the arrow keys are full sized. Also the speakers can be quite loud. However you might be disappointed by the screen due to it's mediocre viewing angles. Battery life is not amazing with my laptop. I can get a few hours of use when I switch to power saver mode (which is much more than on balanced). Usage is usually web browsing (varying from light to heavy), using word and powerpoint and often programming for uni.
