    Asus EEEPC 1000HE RAM Upgrade

Can get a 2G RAM upgrade from Crucial for about £38 for my netbook. Anybody point me to a cheaper supplier? Thanks Ian.

I bought my upgrade from play dot com . I bought an Eeepc from comet just before last xmas and ordered 2GB of RAM straight away . Good buy and no problems . I'll check my old emails for a price .

    update:
I'm positive this was the order from December last year . Infact it must be as I have never ordered 2GB for any other laptop .
Damn good price too . Of course it was over a year ago ,but still cheaper than Crucial .

    Item : PNY PC5300 / 2GB / 667MHz / DDR2 / 200pin SoDIMM Laptop Memory
    Price : GBP 12.99
    Quantity : 1
    Delivery Cost : Free
    Payment : Credit Card

Memory prices fluctuate almost on a daily basis so you can hardly compare the price a year ago with what it is now! The current price at play.com for generic (probably PNY) memory is £35.99 for 2GB.

Comparing PNY memory with Crucial is a bit like comparing Daewoo cars with Bentleys. I'd pay the couple of £s extra to get the Crucial - and you get a lifetime warranty from them rather than play.com's non-existent warranty.

As it happens I've bought RAM from both Crucial and Play in the past and have had no problems from either ,except plays is cheaper and does the same job .

If your a RAM snob and would rather pay over the odds ,thats your business .I merely mentioned a cheaper source for RAM .Like I say I have 2GB of plays RAM in my Eeepc 1000h since last year and its working perfectly .

If your knowledge of RAM pricing is so limited that you think that you can compare the price charged for RAM a year ago with the price charged now, you'd be better off sticking to offering advice on something you know about.

I suggest you do a bit of research (fairly easy on google) to see the comparisons between generic RAM and Crucial. You could also check the difference between Crucial's CS and play's (more or less non-existent) CS. I'm not a "RAM snob", just someone who knows that cheapest isn't always the best!

Thnaks for the help so far. When I bought the netbook I price checked RAM and I'm pretty sure it was much cheaper in June/July. Its not an upgrade that I must do now, was really just bored and thinking of things to do. Might wait until after Nyear and see if the price of RAM drops:)
