Asus laptop wont let me enter password.

Hi, I had a problem with my laptop the other day which you all kindly helped me with. I now have another problem! The main screen is on but it wont allow me to enter my password. It has three symbols at the bottom one showing an airplane is lit up but again it wont let me click on any of those. Grrrrrrrr thank you.

Check to see if you Caps Lock light comes on when you press it. It will tell you if your keyboard is unresponsive/dead or just being ignored.

Plug a usb keyboard into it and try that.

    Tab enter

Unplug mains. take battery out. press and hold power button for 30 seconds. put battery in. plug power in. turn on

disconnect the power, remove the battery wait a while to put it back in (have a beer). try it again if that doesn't work remove the battery wait a while longer to put it back in (have a number of beers). try it again worst case over night

If you can't take the battery out, there might be a little pinhole underneath with a reset symbol by it (like a backward pointing curly arrow). Pressing this with something small and pointy does the same thing as a battery pull.

Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds, Then turn it on again.

Have you tried screaming at it?

Number lock off or on, or maybe you had them in a different state when you created the password? As a last resort, depending what version of Windows you are running ophcrack live cd may help. Solved the problem of a scam caller gaining access to a friends pc and changing the password to get them to pay for support.

turn on - then let it fully run down without power plugged in - then leave over night (few beers), bingo it'll work again without needing password
