What you are asking for is called a non-locking push to make button.

Did you check if the cable for the existing button is plugged onto the right pins on the motherboard?

first of all, you need to check if the you have connected your ATX button properly with the connectors on your motherboard. If you still face the same issue, ****.

I personally think, it must be either wrong or loose jumper connection with motherboard.
