Hi everyone,
Quick question... I've noticed a number of Audi Sat Nav SD cards on eBay etc
I didn't upgrade to the dealer option as it was a fortune, but would buying one of these work just fine?
Can it really be that simple?
Any advice from experienced individuals would be much appreciated!

Probably misunderstood, sorry.
No mate, you haven't its my bad! I in fact meant SD card, that goes in one of the two slots above your control panel?
I have no idea how it works, you reckon it would be that simple?!
Personally I use waze on my phone which connects to the MMI via Bluetooth, the screen is on the phone but the directions are voiced through the speakers
Hi mate. I've had a play about with the bluetooth, as personally I was always happy with the phone solution, even using my iPhone's own Maps app, or google maps, but i've not been able to get the commands to come through the speakers (although I can hear my own key taps, which is just annoying me when trying to make it work hahaha)
It's a scandal they charge that much, if anyone has a solution i'd love to hear it!
Seem's that it's not that simple mate, but I genuinely appreciate you offering anyway!
Having read up on them a little, I'm getting the impression that every SD Card has an encryption on them which needs to be authorised for use.
I would have imagined that if someone had sold their Audi and kept the card, it would have remained active and therefore would have been able to slot into another car, but obviously the businessmen at Audi are a little smarter than that! haha
I'd consider an aftermarket stereo, I've got an Android stereo with front dashcam and rear camera. Works very well and has all features you could want/need.
They do some that fit specific vehicles and look oem etc..

That's interesting Shauneco! But I'm concerned, I'm leasing this so I don't know if I can whack something like that in it?
Also, was hoping to find something on the cheap.
At present, I can't even get my phone to bark out directions while the radio is playing!! Haha
You probably shouldn't :(.
Hope you find a cheap/free solution :).
Cheers mate
Are you on Media when connected? It doesn't work on telephone or radio. I also invested in a brodit clip too, so the phone is really accessible.
Audi also do three versions of sat nav low res (sd card), high res (about 2k for technology pack) or the one in the new tt. In my opinion the low res one doesn't look good and for £500 it's ridiculous.
Yeah mate, what I've found is connecting to media allows the sounds from my phone to come through the speakers, but not the spoken instructions from the maps app.
Also, when a phone is connected as normal via Bluetooth it prevents my phone and my wife's phone (iPhone 6 plus and iPhone 6s) giving any notifications what so ever, unless you go clunking through the settings to disable that part.
Not loving the Bluetooth life at the moment! Haha
I'm using an iPhone 6s on a 2013 Q3 and it works but Bluetooth can be hit and miss!
Try downloading waze off the App Store see it that works
Got it downloaded mate!
You reckon it will work a little easier with the in car stuff??
By paying Audi.
