Average minutes used per month on your mobile and to whom

Posted 26th Mar 2013
Given that there are so many ways of communicating without actually speaking to someone, I am wondering how many minutes people use per month on average on their mobiles speaking to others and which people do you spend most time talking to .e.g. friends, family, workplace, customer service lines etc etc

People used to call each other, then they started texting, and now even that is too much effort and so they message through facebook. So whos using all these unlimited minutes (say 2000+ minutes) offered on contracts?

I could happily have 0 minutes and still keep in full contact with everyone, in fact at a guess i would suggest i don't even use 100 minutes a month. Texts are the main communication amongst me and my friends, then as you say facebook. Most of us have viber so it is free to text and call anyway and my girl is on giffgaff so thats free calls and texts as well. Mental really.

Not a lot at all, usually consists of "where are you?", "are you free for a drink", "are you busy" or something along those lines.
Then I go and spend time with them in person.

I agree lol, I have unlimited calls and texts on my contract as it was a promotion that worked out to be the cheapest way to get the phone.
I never come close to using all of them (_;)

Depends on if he got a free phone or not, I tend to go on overall cost of contract vs. buying the phone outright as to whether it's a good deal.

But about 2500 - 3000 texts a month! That amount of texts you wouldn't think I actually interacted with friends haha

Most of my minutes are spent speaking to family or workmates, for family it means I can have a conversation when out walking the dog and with workmates it's easier using the phone when working on a system.

0 minutes usually, the only time I call is either a where are you kind of call or a call to a company after using say no to 0870. A few hundred SMS messages each month is more my thing and the internet to keep in contact with everyone beyond texts.

What is this "calling people" you speak of? Is it like texting?

I have unlimited everything, but I only really use the internet.
I'd say I average about 3gb a month over 3g, 100 texts and about 20 mins calls. Seems like im not getting my moneys worth for £30pm but it was the first contract phone I ever signed up to and I guess I (massivley) overestimate my usage

    Seriously, or joking?

Only ask as not sure about mobile deals.

Son is asking me for a contract phone, but not sure which would be best (orange and t-mobile don't work so well here).
