Avira (Updating)

Anyone having trouble updating this product.

Thought I would give Avira Anti-Virus a shot.

Usually use AVG . Tried Avast on this computer but installed xp to one of my laptops on a new ssd today and thought would give Avira a go, see whats it's like. Regret that now:lol it's so slow at updating, if it even starts.

Looked for a manual definition update, I found some I think ,seems to go to softpedia is that right ? anyone know of another site for the updates or if avira provide a proper removal tool to uninstall ? their site is so slow.

So basically can anyone get their avira to update today eg now, thanks

It has eventually started @17k a second :lol.. it only has to download 2 meg and its been updating for 10 minutes with 2 Min's remaining. Painful.

Seems a lot of people are having trouble and getting errors in the log files.

Dumb using an internet protocol that is not working or in use much yet and not making sure fallback works.

Ghost image will be going back in shortly cannot be bothered to wait nearly 18 minutes to download 2 meg from their server. I did find a manual file to download just cannot be bothered with badly written / supported software.

Avg has also gone down hill a bit now as well. They try and be too many things and just grind yoru machines down no matter how many cores you have with bad routines.

I have no problem with Avira, it auto-updates every day in the background painlessly :?

Its not me:lol, everything else downloads at 284k + and obviously I did check other things like downloading winamp, updating my avg, my avast, another avg on another computer all were very fast. It's a known issue as detailed above . If your on Vista that might explain why you don't see it . On Xp there is no native support for IPv6

anyways thanks I have sorted it now.

I'm on XP64 and it updates OK

fair enough mine eventually did update but if you check your report file you may find you have errors pertaining to the problem I have above. You just have not seen it manifest as slow speed yet.
