    Avoiding BT engineer cost?

    Just called BT to move my line to my new address, and they want a £125 installation charge in the new property! I told them to forgot it, is there anyway to get this waved?

    I dont know if BT are still doing this but last year when I had mine reconnected, it was connected up for free if I signed to an 18 Month contract instead of 12. This was not advertised though, and even the sales rep had to go off and check with their manager.

    if youre going to have sky then they'll install a line for £39

    Don't you need a BT line in the first place though?

    if you go for a virgin phone line it's free, but then I don't think you can use all the internet providers and such!

    BT - £125
    Virgin - £35.

    Virgin = WINNER

    Hmm...it appears I may need to get a BT line first to get Virgin as I'm not in a cable area. Back to square one...

    Unreal. I called re the Money Supermarket Offer above, they said it was an old offer but I could have connection for £29.99. So I said go ahead, and something was confusing the lady with the address. So she jiggled it slightly, found an active line in the property and moved it for free! Chancers! Cost came down from £125, to £30, to free!!
