    Quite a sweeping statement.

Do you know the reasons for the strike?

This is the reason mentioned in the above link-

The union said the strike had been called in a bid to improve the "poverty pay" of cabin crew employed in its mixed fleet who have joined the airline since 2010.

They would have known their pay before joining but still decided to join so stop ruining commuters lives and get on with the job they applied for. If they do not like it then go and get a job somewhere else.

Yes they would have known the pay they were offered, BUT they wouldn't have known that there contracts of employment varied from existing employees, the union and its members are looking for equal terms for all, regardless of length of service.

Different positions of course can offer differing levels of pay but surely in this day and age we can't let employers discriminate against new employees...?

In 2014 cabin crew got 2.7% approx pay rise whilst the chief executive officer got 3%

His salary and other benefits amounted to a package worth £6.4 million, … His salary and other benefits amounted to a package worth £6.4 million, up from almost £5 million in 2013.

I suspect something similar would have happened in 2015
And in general it's been like this for most companies
The rich get richer whilst the poor keep getting shafted (whether it's wage rises, threatened job loses etc)

At least they got a pay rise which is more than a lot of people have.

The rich have always become richer at the expense of us underlings and that is how it will be in our lifetime.

so pay the staff employed previously less to level the playing field. Oh they probably wouldn't accept the lower salary, lucky them. perhaps invent a time machine for the new employees so that they can join BA when there was less competition with discount airlines.

people think cabin crew get paid alot but their base pay is around 13k pa - they have to depend on sector pay and inflight sales to top up their salary.

of course they then have to deal with the unts who get drunk on the plane and fight etc etc

Every job has some bad bits which any applicant would have researched and been aware of so if they still take the job offered then got on with it and do not strike making innocent peoples lives hell.

To give you an insight, I have managed teams of staff doing the same role, with variance in salary of up to 25k. Perfectly standard. When I used to recruit for those roles it would be advertised as a starting salary of 16-24k.

If a candidate didn't mention £££ at interview they would be offered 16k to start.
If a candidate negotiated themselves a starting salary of 24k they would.

    Is that discriminative ?

    Same with annual appraisals:
Some staff would come armed with info, on additional tasks they had taken on, how they had achieved the previous years goals, more money they brought in so they could justify a bonus and raise, They would usually get 5-10k In bonus and 3-6k pay rise.
Others would come in with no info, and they would get the bottom rate bonus and pay rise.

To avoid any moaning by those too daft or lazy, any talk of salary or bonus was a sackable offence and the company didn't recognise Unions, and of course any savings in my resource numbers helped by own bonus.

BA get worse standard and sector pay than EasyJet. That's probably why
