they say that, the longer you leave them in the group 1 seat the better.

has your baby outgrown the rear facing seat? can your baby sit up properly unaided?

also look at the weights aswell,

choose carefully and read up on it, it may seem a nice idea for a forward facer , but an also be dangerous aswell.

if you are positive its the right choice then id recommend:

    Maxi Cosi Priori XP
    Britax Eclipse
    Britax Renaissance

make sure it fits your car properly, try go into a store and demo a few to see what you like,

good website is kiddicare.com they have videos aswell to show you some of the features the seats have.

    hope this helps

spot on advice there! you need to wait until minimum 9 months, preferably 1 year and weight over 20lbs or 9kgs. The baby may look like they are hanging out of the seat but its still the safest way for them.
when it is time, check here ]http//ww…php

I have a report on most car seats on my hotmail its about a year old but still full of good advice and will probably show you the safest one in your price range. If you want it pm your email addy cos I can't work out how to post it here.

Also please remember a car seat is only as good as the way its fitted.

Yer it goes by weight not age, over 20lbs qualifies for a forward facing seat

The maxi cosi proir XP is a very good seat, very easy to fit

Or the Britax 1st class, this one fits almost everycar

There are also the isofix car seats but there a tad expensive

You need to check when you fit a seat that there is not buckle crunching, else it won't fit properly. Its hard to exlpain over internet but if you go to somewhere like Halfords or mothercare they will show you how to fit it properly. If there is buckle crunching you would probably have to go for the 1st class seat

i am actually a fully trained child seat fitter lol. i work for halfords and went on a great course to learn all about it.
i have also done some road safety roadshows with the police, and it was on a child safety day at a nursery where i met my beautiful girlfriend of over 3 years!
The best advice i can give, is to go somewhere like halfords, have a trained fitter check your car, fit some seats, even show you how to fit your chosen seat. The service is free, you just pay for the seat lol.
Any questions please ask! and the Britax first class is a very versitile seat, whilst the likes of the Maxi cosi priori xp, if it fits, is an extremely good seat!

i have seen many of these in peoples cars, and to be very honest, they always scare me to death. They never ever seem to be fitted well, and i just dont rate them. buying a child seat is not and never should be about price. find the one that fits, then find a deal.

    No offence intended Millercat
