There's a few of us on here, and there was a member posting up a few days back who was due and not sure if they been on again but may have had over w/e.

we had our first in december, it's gone so fast the last six months, but what a six months! taken over my life but he's brilliant.

Oh and nothing can prepare the fathers for actually being there at the birth, happiest day of my life

Yes it's our first.

Not exactly got everything yet, actually it feels like we have nothing!!

Cot and moses basket are being delivered soon, same with pushchair/car seat.

We really need to get the bag sorted, thanks for reminding about the petrol!!!

Sorry, i thought you meant you were 5 weeks away, just realised you meant 5 weeks into it!!

haha 5 weeks away..that would be awesome..esp as i'm feeling slightly nauseated today......its only gonna get worse!! have u had ur antenatal classes. they drum it into u to have petrol and route sorted etc etc..... i think souljacker can proably vouch for how mental it is when u take ur partenr into give birth!

Had two of the meetings, about pre-labour and the birth so far.

My son was born couple of weeks ago - must say i had a completely different experience.. It may have been due to it being quite a rough labour on my wife and scared the crap out of me though.

When he popped out and felt numb to it, i mean i knew i loved him and if anyone touched him yada yada etc.. But i didn't feel any life altering experience that people told me i would.. Have slowly bonded with him more and more though.

i dont think your experiece is something out of the ordinary, just most people dont admit it, i never felt a close bond to either of my two and i am the mother, its something that came pretty quickly but certainly wasnt there as soon as they arrived

Hey MagicBeans!

Well I'm a Mummy & a Mummy to Be! My little girl is 20 months and I'm 17 weeks pregnant with number 2....find out in 3 weeks if it's pink or blue *fingers crossed*.

I have to say labour was definitely the best part

Congrats magicbeans!

Will be selling you some of my baby's clothes in the FS/FT section soon.

got to admit i had a bit of a cry when he came out:oops:, i blubbed when it came to telling my wife that it was a boy, and then when i cut the cord.

I sound like a right wuss reading that back

My OH cried at all 3 of our childrens births.

1st baby was 12 days late, I was induced, she took 20 hours to come out, she was a merconium baby so was whipped away as soon as she came out to be cleaned up, had the drip in my hand to keep the contractions coming, my hand swelled up to twice its size as they didnt tell me to keep moving it lol. I took an epidural with her because she was laying back to back on me, part of the reason why my labour took so long was because we were waiting on her turning, I had to be cut with her because she got stuck and they needed to use forceps.

2nd baby was 14 days late, she took 3.5 hours to come out, went into hospital and they put they tablet things in, which worked a treat as I didnt have to have the drip drug in to keep the contractions coming, managed with gas and air for a while but then it became unbearable, got the morphine jag and she was out about an hour later.

3rd baby was 10 days late, he was induced too, my labour took 12 hours with him, I managed the whole labour up until 11.20pm with the gas and air, then at 11.25pm she gave me the morphine jag, 11.30pm he was born, what a pure waste of morphine lol.

I've never had the pleasure/displeasure of my waters breaking/contractions starting themselves lol, they've always been broken for me.

My midwives have always been excellent, I'll never forget the advice the midwife gave me during my 2nd labour, she said..

"concentrate Ashley, as soon as the babys head is out stop pushing immediately"

She told me that it would reduce the risk of me tearing/needing to be cut, telling you its the best piece of advice that anyone has giving me, I remembered what she had told me and did the same with the birth of my wee boy and it worked a treat again.

Needed 5 stitches with the first and none at all with the 2nd 2.

Telling ya if anyone told ya just how painful it was to pee after you'd been cut and stitched back together you'd probably never have any naturally lol.

I think whilst having my babies i've never felt closer to my partner, he was there with me the entire time and just made everything so much easier, I definetly couldn't have gotten through it without him.

Back to back is painful,I had same with 1st so had epidural, midwife even come over in ambulance with me and left her car in my Mums road,I must been sick about 20 times until hospital give me an injection to help stop sickness.Back ache really bad, contractions didn't bother me early on.
Not had any stitches with other 2 and hopefully will not this time round if he/she comes out of breech that is. It's more to do if they do a right mess of fixing up than the actual having to have them as can cause problems later on if not done properly.

Hi again Magicbeans!!
I'm due on the 24th July. I'm at the stage now where I'm off to the bathroom every 5 mins, have horrible backache and I'm finding it hard to put my socks on. My youngest is 5 so its been a while since I've been pregnant and I'd forgotten a lot of it.
AshleyRFC - I had to have stitches with my first - I think its a lot worse than the labour - I couldn't sit down comfortably for about a week! I was overjoyed when I had my second and they told me I didn't need stitches!! My waters have never broken on their own either - the midwife's have always had to do it for me!!

My oldest is 6 on the 23rd December, Middle 4 on the 1st of November and the youngest was just 1 on the 27th March of this year.

My Sister brought her baby over to mines not long after she'd had him and I honestly couldn't go through it again, it took about 25 mins to feed him lol, I'm just used to my little one wolfing down everything.

I think I'm at the stage now where I feel that my family is complete and I just dont want to have anymore, we have 2 girls and a little boy and we wouldn't change any of them, its funny to think that if David had of came before Hannah(middle one) did that we probably wouldn't have had anymore, we've talked about it before and agree that with the personalitys our kids have there is no way that we could ever imagine not having them.

AshleyRFC - I've got two boys already Leo aged 7, and Brandon aged 5. I thought that was it and that I wouldn't have any more, I too felt like my family was complete. Then I found out I was pregnant with this one - another boy, we're planning on calling this one Elliot. Myself and the OH are really excited though and can't wait to meet him. My kids are at the stage when they're not too demanding and entertain themselves - its scary to think that I've got to go through everything again!

God I know, I dont know if after 5 years I could go back to getting up during the night again, but at least your kids are at the stage where they can probably tidy up after themselves and will be able to help with the baby.

I had a coil fitted which lasts 10 years lol, I'm only 24 myself, I was thinking about maybe going for a hysterectomy, but my OH says not to be so daft as I dont know how I'll feel when the kids are all at school.

Ive got 2 boys 4 and 1 (2 in 3 wks) would try for a 3rd if I knew I would have a girl but as theres no gurantee I'm staying as I am for now. Plus labour goes really quick for me,waters broke on way into hospital before, not sure I could make it a 3rd time, think I would stay at home.

Are you hoping for a girl or boy ? are going through your tired stage at the moment ?

I expected a very quick labour with my 3rd judging on how it went with my 2nd.

The midwife for my 3rd told me that your 1st tends to be your longest, 2nd the quickest and 3rd the most un-predictable.

WOW!!!!!! thats all i can say..... omg u went thru it all huh!! my first one i was contracting and only a mere 2cm but in loadsa pain.... i had had the pre labour runs but a few hours after my internal and pethidine, i just kept needing to go again. obviously i needed to push but i thought i was extremely constipated. so there i am squatting over a toilet in the labour ward (couldnt sit!!)..screaming and half naked as the midwie had told me to sit in the bath to relax. hubby sopke to mw to say look is there anything else u can do and she was like no sorry its only been 3 hours since last check.....policy bla bla bla.....so she stuck me on a birthing ball..... but i couldnt take it so i buzed her back and she reluctanly checked me and was like o right....ur ready to push..... ....defo pushing was best part...o the relief!!

second time i said look i have relatively fast labours...so mw didnt abandon me.....she gave me internal and i was only 1cm but she didnt send me home as she knew i dilated very quickly....(ie 2-10cm in 3hrs first birth) and lo and behold.... just over an hour after internal i had dilated fully and baby was out in 3 pushes....sounds a doddle but wow its INTESNE PAIN. no rest just full on contraction on contraction. blood pressure really shot up and my son had bloodshot eyes from the fast delivery!! :-D

my little piece of mw sayings that kept me going was 'every contraction gets u closer to meeting ur baby'.

My waters have never broken on their own either - the midwife's have always had to do it for me!!

bless ur nearly there hun.... its gonna be weird losing the independece..well i found that with DS2....Ds1 was 3 and i had forgotten how much time newborns take up..... but having a ive year old will be so helpul as well. someone to help play with baby or help u get stuf or baby.

Plus labour goes really quick for me,waters broke on way into hospital before, not sure I could make it a 3rd time, think I would stay at home. Are you hoping for a girl or boy ? are going through your tired stage at the moment ?

e
im tires but more rom hayever...i really really suffer it...and i cant tk antistamines now!! so im struggling to sleep at night. i know what u mean about wanting a third if u could gurantee it being a girl..... speaking to a mum at school...shes a yoga instructor and theres a woman in her class who just gave birth to her 7th BOY....yes 7th.... she lost a girl to meningitis a few yrs ago (she was 6 months) and now is determined to have another....that takes it to far!

i heard that......from a MIDWIFE....im scared! haha

Yeah the pushing then knowing that its very nearly over is a great feeling, with my son(third) I felt his head come out, so sat and waited for a minute giving myself time to stretch again then pushed, felt one of his shoulders pop out then ther other and that was it over.

OH got to cut his cord(the only one out of the 3 that they let him do), he was so chuffed, when he cut through it, the stuff inside squirted on his t shirt lol.

With my first we didnt have a name for her, just couldn't think of anything, about 2 days before I was due to go in to be induced he said how about Zoe, I said hmmm maybe, after I had her at 6.30am he phoned everyone and told them all that she was here and that she was called Zoe lol.

Hannah well she was either gonna be a Leah or a Hannah but she looked like a Hannah, he also chose her name lol.

David(1) was always going to be David because his Daddy is David(28) and his Granda(40 odd) and his Great Granda(73).

My worst labour was my first, but because of the merconium, and her cord was round her neck, as soon as she was out I didnt hear her cry right away and they took her straight out the room, I was hysterical, David was trying to calm me down, he heard her crying outside the room but I was too busy crying that I couldn't hear and he was saying to me "shes ok, I can hear her, shes fine" but obviously you wanna see for youself.

Infact I've cried at all my births, its quite funny cos for me Childbirth has made me very sorry lol, like as in when I pushed them out I started crying, then I was sorry for crying, then I kept crying, then I was sorry again lol.

Must just be all the emotions that are running through ya.

im not having fun ..with DS2 i had sickness/nausea till week 16!! i think its worse this time as i have developed asthama from lack of anti histamines.....plus hayfever is having a field day in my system!!

ur slightly leaning towards a lil man this time arent u..... i'd like a lil girlie...complete the family! but at the end of the day a healthy baby is most important thing hey!! did u find out when u were expecting ur daughter? its good in that u can paint the nursery the right colour etc.

As many as nine out of 10 mums-to-be experience nausea, with or without … As many as nine out of 10 mums-to-be experience nausea, with or without vomiting. Nausea in pregnancy is actually a good sign because it shows that pregnancy hormone levels are high enough to allow your pregnancy to "take hold", and for your baby to develop and grow normally.
