Baby's Anti Colic bottles - opinions please

    Mod & Ed
Anyone used anti colic bottles on their babies the ones with the tube type thing inside? My newest addition has really bad wind and have tried the usual infacol, comfort, bigger teats etc, so was thinking of getting some tommee tippee closer to nature anti colic bottles or Dr Browns, but was wondering if anyone had used them and what they thought, do they work? or are they just another gimmick, thanks x

Thanks, was looking at the Dr Browns ones, are they hard to clean?

No you get a special shoot cleaner with them and you can buy the special brush cleaner for about £3.00. Dont buy them from Boots search the net i got them quiet a bit cheaper.

Bang'em on yer breast, Less wind...!!!

No seriously, Try some gripe water between feeds that may help.

Agree with above, Dr Browns bottles are great

She's not old enough for gripe water yet, am sure my son who's 17 yrs old was on that from birth, but now they say 2mths + ( and they've taken the alcohol out of it too:( )

i've breastfed both of mine, and my first had terrible colic, 4 months of hell, nothing worked, even the nurses said she was really severe. apparently they've had amazing results with pro(or pre?)biotics drops in tests in the US

Dr Brown bottles worked amazingly with our son, also used infacol.
Tried grip water and made him worse so be careful with that. My sisters little boy had awful colic/screaming, they used Dr Brown's switched to Aptamil formula milk for colic etc and that helped. They were sent some probiotic drops (per previous poster) from relatives in the us which apparently they used on their children in the us. However they didnt help and their gp advised them not to really use them.

i can also reccomend Dr Brown bottles they are fab and they give you a little brush to clean the tube, my oldest daughter suffered terrible with colic we brought these and colief and within time it started to get better, def the best thing i brought with her, i breastfed my little man until a few weeks ago and luckily he has never suffered with it. hope they work for you.

lol have just seen your tags at the bottom of your post --- i rememeber those feelings very well especially the grumpy daddy one!

another for the dr browns bottles, the milk you are feeding your baby can make a big difference to, my sister started hers LO off on the sma and she didnt settle on it properly made her really windy and colicy, i recommended try the aptamil and she was much better with it, she didnt sick up as much at the end either

I use C & G comfort, have done since we came out of hospital, Issy had terrible wind and the combination of the comfort, infacol etc worked for her, am seeing the pediatrician on Tues re her hips, so will ask him about formula changes ( our hv is useless and keeps telling me to go with my gut feelings )

Health Visitors cant advise you which milk to use or recommend any for some silly reason, but i do know a health visitor and she said one of the worse milk for wind and colic is SMA so dont use that one. Have a read up of colief thats very good but it £10 to buy. I used Comfort milk and thought it was good just takes them ages to drink it but hence the reason they dont get wind.

I used to childmind my freinds son who was collicky, The tommy tipee ones were no good. But the Mam anto colic and the Dr browns were great - Also the Dr Browns are BPA free.

HV wont advise you on formula milk unfortunatley they are not allowed to anymore, but if you do consider switching start off with changing one bottle a day to see how she settles on it, i am taking it that issy is an older sister, perhaps the formula has changed slightly since then, or maybe she just needs something different, aptamil also do a easy digest one so this might help as well, i also used the infacol sometimes with my second as i found she got quite windy when she was breast feeding! tbh the best thing that worked was nice warm bath for her. good luck anyway and remember it will pass, even though things r stressful right now, soon you will be wondering where your baby went!

DS2 had bad colic......nothing worked. Dr browns did jack all but cause a nusiance when washing up. had to ride it out till 3 months before colic settles.

my other kids had bad wind.....colic...the real deal is a lot worse then bad wind., imo i dont think anything works on colic but walking around with them listening them to scream in your ear. im not cussing anyone, i just think ppl who say oh x worked on me probably had a kid with bad bad wind and not with colic....evil stuff colic! for that reason wihad i really hope ur baby feels beter soon and the phase passes.

My baby did have back colic and bowel problems, ended up in hospital quiet a few time having die in him and enimas (or how ever you spell it) done.

i agree with MB, ryan had colic and nothing worked.. dylan got bad wind and we bought MAM bottles and they was great along with gripe water hope it doesnt last long for her..and you. colic is not nice at all
