If you don't have an overdraft then you don't have credit.

nope it was illegal for them to lend to you....

No it won't.

Also, did you get charged ?

Point is that you have NO credit rating. I had to formally disassociate myself finacially with my parents at 18 to get credit...

Write to or email Experian and Equifax - equifax.com/experian.com
Hope that helps!

Nahhh don't worry there is no real credit involved its a debit card I assume? Maestro or Solo?, you may at worst case be slapped with an Overdraft charge.

Credit agreements such as Credit Cards, Phone Credits, Loans etc. Being 17 your unlikely to be able to sign these anyways.

Point is, if he did not get charged then it seems like they have given him an overdraft by mistake

I'm sure pretty much all banks have charges in place

the credit rating will come from Abbey and they measure on things like defaults in payment etc
Getting into debt or overdraft is not a reason to get bad debt

I know, but it seems like if he did not get charged, then they have given him one by mistake..

Just seems a little odd

HSBC gave me £300 overdraft when I was 16... nightmare company...

Happened to me too, hence why i'm asking, I queried why i did not get charged when going 'overdrawn' and the manager basically explained that they had 'made a mistake' lol

right i see so as they have not given me any formal credit, i cant have a bad credit rating, btw i have a current account, the past to occasions they havent charged me the first time it happend ( 3 times in total) they charged me £30! but i rang up and said i dint know about this charge and they let me off and refunded me.

Its not legal to get credit til you are 18 that is why you can't get any credit cards or even have one on someone elses account.
