Has anybody used baking soda to make a paste to whiten your teeth?

I've recently discovered the taste for coffee and in return had my teeth stained.

I want to try some sort of cost effective and safe teeth whitening, I thought about the whitening strips but thought baking soda would be more safe as a first timer.
I've read that it can make your teeth sensitive but mine are anyway and I use sensadyne, some say use every other day and some say once a week.
Do you brush every part of you teeth or just the visible areas?

Has anybody tried this?

Don't do it.

Using baking soda will cause abrasion to your teeth, resulting in loss of tooth and increased sensitivity.

Bad for your teeth
Crest strips might be an answer?
I use pronamel toothpaste for my sensitive teeth

Get monkey powder, from asian stores, will do the job

As above, baking soda will harm your teeth.

Crest strips worked a treat for me, if you give them a try make sure you get them from a reputable source the extra you pay will be worth it (not fake!)

I use sensodyne repair and protect with whitening. it's gentle on teeth and mine have been much healthier and whiter! it's around £3 for a tube

Thanks for the answers. I use Senodyne on a regular basis but whitening toothpastes don't really make a difference.

Can you recommend a place to buy some genuine ones and and what price should they be?

I use Eucryl stain removing toothpowder once or twice a week and normal toothpaste the rest of the time, that sorts out coffee stains. (It used to be called "Smokers Toothpowder"!)
You can also get Eucryl toothpaste now which is more convenient.
I wouldn't use baking soda "neat" on your teeth, bit too abrasive.

Have you tried it yet?

I guess you don't brush with charcoal in public then?

Holland & Barrett (& other retailers) sell tubes of paste. These are far more sink/bathroom surface-friendly than the jars of powder, & much easier to apply to a toothbrush:

I guess a dentist, I don't know as I use gel in a tray from dentist every now and then

Charcoal tablets are abrasive as well but I used to just chew a charcoal tablet and just leave it on my teeth for 10 mins. I use Turmeric but like the Chacoal you end up with orange or black tongue

If you want to whiten your teeth, try the toothpastes (the non-abrasive ones). If they don't work, then ask your dentist!
After all, they know a lot more than an online deals forum and will give you evidence based advice!

Sure, I pay about £35-40 sold and fulfilled by amazon.com for a 20 treatment pack (the professional effects ones are the best shape). They arrive in about a week and the price includes any import duties payable. Avoid marketplace sellers and ebay.

She advertises Oral B 3D white toothpaste, I doubt that's what made them white

another option is coconut oil, they sell it in tescos.
