Bald spot/ patch on cat's head

Found 2nd Apr 2010
My cats developed a bald patch on his head.
Going to take him to the Vets, but wanted to ask, what can I use on him to help stop this getting worse?

Thanks in advance

i was told something about frontline, what is this? and should I use it?

I have heard that a bit of mustard rubbed onto the cats anus, can help this

It could be ringworm so I'd get the cat to the vet ASAP as it is contagious

a wig?

thought the same, but love the pic :-D
Without knowing what may have caused it, difficult to suggest solutions. Could be something making fur fall out/stop growing or could be an irritant. Fleas spring to mind. Has it been treated for fleas?

well the bald spot is the size of a 5p coin and has a red mark on it.. would this be fleas? is there something i can use to avoid fleas?

Taken from a website:
Ringworm and Cat Hair Loss.

Despite its name Ringworm has nothing to do with worms. Ringworm is a fungal infection that grows in the cat's hair, the exterior layers of the cat's skin or in its claws.

Some cats with ringworm will have a very noticeable skin condition, including loss of hair, while others will look normal. Often there are circular patches of cat hair loss on the head, body and ears.

Cats can become infected with ringworm by coming in contact with an infected cat, or other animal, from a human or by being in contact with an infected object such as bedding, carpet, furniture or grooming tools. Ringworm is contagious and can be passed from animal to human and vice versa. Children are particularly at risk of infection.
A cat with a healthy coat. Any hair loss or bald patches on a cat may be a sign that all is not well.

Ringworm can clear itself without treatment (although the cat remains a carrier of the fungus.) It is best to take your cat to your veterinarian in all cases where you suspect infection. Treatment will usually be by tablets and ointment, or lotion, for the skin

over the weekend you may be able to get a flea collar from supermarket. vet can prescribe more effective treatments

Dude, you've been stroking him too hard.

Hope he's OK though.

Frontline is flea treatment recommended by vets.
My cat had a bald patch near his tail which he kept biting and he yelped when we touched it - took him to the vets and they said it was fleas. he had an injection and we treated him with frontline and it sorted the problem. His hair has now grown back. We could not look for fleas on him as he does not let you hold him or brush him. has had regular frontline treatment since and this seems to be working.

I bet that really helps!!! try mustard on your own anus, it would burn like Hell. The animal would end up with two health problems instead on One!! Crazy idea, Doctor D Damelle

Pussies should only have a small amount of hair anyway, the Japanese ones are **** horrendous
