Bank has returned a cheque "Unpaid, Drawer Deceased". How to proceed?

    I received a large cheque (several thousands) from a customer for payment to a company I work for. Sadly, inbetween him sending it to me and it being presented, he passed away. Presumably the company will need to wait for payment out of the estate, but will they be entitled to claw back commission I earned from the sale?

    I believe, and could be wrong its been a while and the rules keep changing, that you'd would have to put in claim to the estate. And I think you need to do it before it goes to probate.

    But you might want to bounce it off the company's legal advisers to be completely sure of getting the right answer..
