it can take up to 4-5 business days - usually 1-2

Normally 3-5 working days. If 2 banks the same, it should be an instant transfer...

its from a hsbc to a lloyds account

its normally done within 2 business days but banks often give themselves a cushion in case things go wrong . Hopefully it will be completed by tomorrow.

I read somewhere recently that there are changes being put into place to make electronic transfers of money between all accounts instantaneous, I think its comming into effect in may.

It depends what time you transferred the money on the 7th. If its before 3pm, should get there on 9th. If its after 3pm, then 10th. Also, even when that other person received it, it does not show immediately on their online banking account. There is always a lag so it all depends on how long it takes to show up in their account.

4-5 working days anytime i do it.

I actually transferred it on the 5th but as it wasnt a banking day it shows on my statement a being transferred on the 7th

I'd say it will take 3..

S'funny you know. I used to work in the banking industry, many many moons ago.

We used to reckon that a cheque was presented on day one, went through clearing on day two and arrived at the bank on day three when it would be cleared or otherwise.

If we did have to post a letter to an unfortunate customer, this would go out that day and arrive the next. Say five days max.

Of course, all this computerised banking has made things MUCH faster.

    Hasn't it?

    Oh, go on, a bit?

    Huh?
