bank transfer payment for fleabay goods????

Im selling a phone on ebay and would like to receive payment via my bank. Ive always used paypal but because of there high fees and the risk of fake payment via stolen accounts I thought Id offer to accept a bank payment.
It should be instant so I can post phone straight away - where Id rather wait a week with paypal to be sure payment hasn't be reversed.

What details would I have to give the winning bidder? (bank account number and sort code, anything else?)
Is there a chance I could be de-frauded using this method?

I will of course go into my bank to confirm that payment has been received before I post phone - but what is the chance the payment could be reveresed???

Personally, I wouldn't buy off anyone who only offered a bank transfer as the only payment option. If Paypal is still a option in your list of payment methods then I would use that instead.

Bank payment better for you but more of a risk for me. I'm sure you'd get buyers but you'd be limiting your market.

Just my 2 cents :-)

2-5 days if its not bank to bank
eg: halifax to halifax (same day)
eg: barclays to halifax (2-5 days)

bank account holder name, sort code, account number,

the worst they could do is set a direct debit up in your name.

It can't be reversed (i dont think)

You must now offer PAYPAL as a form of accepted payment on eBay

I agree, paypal might be arip off but it does give a little more insurance on behalf of the buyer. Me personally would not use Bank Transfer on Fleabay as you got no insurance if goods do not turn up.

Cheers guys

I do offer paypal as main method, always have (as long as buyer is aware of waiting period for funds to clear)

I also prefer cash on collection - buyers happy, sellers happy, less fees!!!

If someone went into a branch of my bank and paid in cash for example - that would be instant right??
Thats really what im after. Im not about to scam anyone but I appreciate what your saying - I wouldn't pay this way for high value goods.

I was also wondering about stolen credit cards - Im sure Id be screwed if someone used one as the payment woud be reversed by credit company??

Ah well lifes a risk.....

It might be pretty much instant even if they do a transfer, depending on your bank.

I don't think the payment can be reversed ? :?
Why dont you call your bank & check ? good luck

Ditto - thanks for the money but no goods forthcoming would be my worry too.

Increase your price by Paypal cost so no loss?

If an item is paid for via Paypal it is meant to be shipped within 7 days of payment being made or they can then make a claim against you.

Just trying to protect myself really - Im selling an iphone and there seems to be alot of scammers trying to buy these.

I had a situation last year with an xbox 360 where someone tried to purchase with a hacked paypal account. Had to wait 2 weeks to sort out - lucky I didn't post!

It seem to always be on high-ish value items that are popular. (ps3, xbox 360, iphone, n95, etc)

I have 100% feedback buying and selling (568) so as I said im not trying to scam anyone and buyers are welcome to collect. (from my house and not an alley!) :whistling:
