Battery Life on an Ipod Touch

If an Ipod Touch was used mainly for games, what would be bad in terms of how long the battery lasts between charges?
My daughers like to play on my Touch and I am having to charge it every day, sometimes twice in one day. Would 3 hours of constant use run the battery right down?

Edit : let me phrase that question another way - is it normal for 3 or so hours of constant use, to completely run the battery down?

I got my 3G new in September and yeah for just games that's about right, … I got my 3G new in September and yeah for just games that's about right, only a few hours max.

Thanks, I hoped you'd come on as you seem to know quite a lot about Ipods.
The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of selling it and I just wanted to check that the battery wasn't stuffed.

3 hours sounds just about ok, if using an app which is pretty busy (like a game with moving things like monkeyball) and screen on high brightness.
Maybe see how long the battery lasts on just music and use that as a benchmark as it'll be easier to compare to others.

Update : I started playing music at around 1.15 am and now, 7.5 hours later, the battery is half full (or half empty depending which way you look at things!). That includes 15 mins of Angry Birds before starting music!
So I guess the battery is ok, yes? I'll leave it playing while I'm out for the next 6 hours or so.

Yes that's a good idea for me as well as my sons only lasts about 2 hours. All he ever does is games. Will try playing music. Incidentally does anyone know if your battery is part of your warranty. Or is it classed as wear and tear.

Warrenty I believe because it's in-built and cannot be replaced.

thanks t0mm.

If you are playing games wihtout need for the wifi feature, turn the Airplane mode on and it will temporaily disable the wifi function which will save some power. Also if you reduce the brightness that will also help and save some battery

Are you able to keep it plugged in when he's playing games on it?

Mine sometimes has it plugged in whilst he is playing but the connection tends to get in his way has most of his games seem to be played looking at it horizontally.
Will mention the airplane mode, That may be very useful. Think he knows about his brightness.
Thats the problem with the touch. kids have them just for games. He only has a bit of music on it and literally 100's of games. He has to be very careful when we are out as to how long he plays on it.

Well, not totally sure how long it lasted as I didn't get a chance to check it till just after 4pm and it had stopped by then. But, as mentioned above, 7.5 hours on half a battery isn't bad. Right, how much would I get for a 2nd gen Ipod Touch, 1 year old?
