Yup, i remember them........ 70's boy band in flairs & tartan, my sister was into them.
Most lads in the 70's hated them, as did i, but if i hear their their songs now, it takes me right back to those halcyon school days.
This song takes me back youtube.com/wat…Tzw X) Got an old LP of their's in the garage

clicky - slightly before my time but I heard of them
I always remember Shang A Lang blaring out from my sisters bedroom....... she was probably **** herself off to the lead singer of Bay City Rollers..... whatever his name was.
But i was probably having a tug over Suzi Quatro around that time.
Yup. lived near me. Constant stream of girls skiping school to wait outside their houses.

Bay City Rollers To Play Comeback Show

The Bay City Rollers are bringing back their tartan outfits and catchy tunes after announcing a comeback tour 40 years on from the height of their fame.The Scottish band, which formed in the late 1960s, had a huge teen following in their 70s heyday and sold more than 100 million records.Rollermania took over both at home and abroad following as their hits Bye Bye Baby and Shang-a-Lang stormed the charts.Les McKeown, Alan Longmuir and Stuart Wood from the original line-up have promised "a very special Christmas present to all the fans that have kept the faith with the band over the years" with a gig at Glasgow's Barrowland on 20 December.At a news conference in Glasgow, frontman McKeown said: "I'm feeling great, I'm feeling fabulous."It's been hard work on everyone's part, maybe I instigated it a couple of years ago when I mentioned on TV that I'd love to get back with the guys and that put a little seed in everyone's head."Slowly but surely we started to gravitate towards each other again." The original line-up also included Eric Faulkner and Derek Longmuir, and the band said Faulkner may join them in the next few weeks.The band rose to fame producing numerous top 10 hits, sell-out tours and their own TV show before splitting in 1978, with bitter battles over money between band members and managers dragging on for decades.Court cases are still continuing to resolve a dispute over royalties owed to the group and McKeown said money has been a factor in the reunion."I think the three of us have made (fans') dreams come true and the fans are the reason that we're doing it - that and the money of course."He joked: "We'll probably never see a penny, it'll be a repeat of the last 40 years."

Didn't one of them get done dealing coke too or something? My mum was a fan so I remember it all being big news!

Mum - "Do you know suchandsuch?"
Me - "No..."
Mum - "You know, suchandsuch from Bay City Rollers!?"
Me - "No mum I'm twenty fu*king nine!"

I'm surprised I heard about this here before she'd text me!

The Bay City Rollers are back and heaven only knows what we have in store this time. The
band's list of achievements is already pretty extensive:

* Drummer Derek Longmuir
was done for child porn.
* Flautist Billy Lyall
died from AIDS.
* Manager Tam Paton served
jail time for gross indecency
with teenage boys.
* Lead singer Les McKeown
killed someone owing to
reckless driving; arrested
(but acquitted) of cocaine
dealing; and only managed
to come in 5th in the UK
heats for Eurovision 1990
