BBC budget cuts
My opinion only, but given the latest Dr Who episode "Waters of Mars", and the rather action lacking, dialogue driven, virtually one room settings of the first three episodes of Spooks series 8, it would appear that the BBC is cutting program budgets quite severely. Dr Who specials usually disappoint me, but a bit of makeup, contact lenses and a hosepipe down an actor's trousers is plumbing new depths. I can understand why ITV, C4 & C5 are strapped for cash, because they are dependent on falling advertising revenue, but surely the licence fee makes the BBC virtually recession proof? Recent press reports indicate that it has certainly made the pay of their senior managers & directors recession proof, and last time I checked my quarterly direct debits had increased. So why the penny pinching on the flagship programs?
