Haven't been in the recent years but I doubt the basic rules have not changed, you go with an approved method of payment, ( check with the auction house on what they accept ), do your due diligence on the vehicle you want, find yourself an inconspicuous position in the auction hall, ( just make sure the auctioneer can see you if you bid ), Don't get auction fever and bid over your budget, there's always another vehicle at another time ), if you win you normally get a short period to test if it meets the auction rules, ( some fall in the category of " sold as seen ", you buy it with no guarantees ), if it has faults then tough luck. Otherwise it's fairly straight forward. Good Luck.

Take appropriate id. You will be required to leave a deposit and then pay the rest within a certain number of days. Although most vehicles now come with a rac/ AA report, do not take them at their face value. Look out for signs such as number of previous owners and weigh it up against the year of vehicle. Biggest clue by far to avoid buying a lemon. Also you'll be able to tell if any panel of the car has been replaced / repaired by just feeling the bodywork.

Watch out for hidden charges what your winning bid is will NOT be what you finally pay unless you are a trader.!!!

    paying buyer fees killed it
I would ask a pro to do the bidding for you on a car you like
