No. But sometimes I take a cheeky glance down the track whilst waiting on the platform for a train. Does that count?

Yes, next step, notebook and foldable seat
I did from my window when I worked for the railway.

I do miss it.
No, but if I had to to choose I think I would prefer plane spotting .

Yeah i used to when i was a youngster, but as a youngster there was a big following of trains lol

Nowadays the hobby seems not there, like many things we used to do as kids.

awaits the backlash lol
Tbh my main priority is either
a) elbows out to prepare for the fight to get on the train
b) moving myself away from the edge so I don't get beheaded by the non-stopping trains.
Always have the notebook with me though just in case there's a.... um... good train. You know, something like Thomas the Tank, hell, even Percy the green engine would make it into the notebook! Not had to use the notebook yet, but it's always there ready ;-)
yes. not ashamed to admit it. used to love it when i was a kid (20 yr ago!!). me and my mate used to jump on the rattler to crewe, leeds, preston, carlisle etc.

Never been into plane spotting, but i have been to a good viewing area near Birmingham airport a couple of times for photography reasons and there are loads of peolpe there with radio scanners, binoculars, note pads and all... so that seems popular still
Thing is parents have become over protective, so half the things we did as kids just doesnt happen now.
its something that hasnt been in my family, but like beet, my dad used to love wathcing the planes come in low

Nice one... we used to go to crewe often. Remembering all the diesels before this electric crap came along was great.... Don't remember the steams though
No, though there hasn't been a functioning train line within 10 miles of where I grew up for at least fifteen years

One of our regular mountain bike rides takes us past the perimeter fence of Bristol airport and in the summer there are always 10+ cars of people sat there for hours watching the planes land/take off. Its not really my idea of fun, but they seem to enjoy it. X)
there was a guy on here a while back who used to do helicopter spotting.

tomm i think.

Another agreement... When i was about 12 i used to travel all over the country on the trains. The 6 week summer holiday i remember buying a month pass for the trains that would cover from Chester - Oxford and from Notts - Shrewsbury for about a tenner (not bad for 30 days). I even went to Edinburgh (from Brum) the once when i was about 13/14 with my mates... no chance these days

emasu! Still does methinks.

I did some trainspotting in stations local to Chester and Crewe - mind you they were steam trains and well worth spotting. I wasn't quite sure what to do but I took down the numbers !! Quite good fun.

I did used to go trainspotting when I was much younger with my Dad however these days trains are pretty dull, when I was a child the station here would have a wide variety of different locomotives around whereas now it's just a handful of Sprinters/Turbostars (DMU's)
