every ebay seller overcharges for their postage!!!! its how they make sure they get a bit extra cash!!

Yes, think it does - I would just email them, it could have well been a mistake:thumbsup:
But to be fair, is it worth it for 50p or whatever the difference would have been? I'd still let them know, even if they can't do anything

It's also against ebay rules. If you paid for 1st class, that's what you should get. Off to check google on postage markings

That's not true for every ebayer! I regulary sell there and only charge actual postage plus about 30p for packaging.

If I were you strobez1977 I'd query the fact that you paid for first class postage but only got second class on it.

Can't see anything. Just ask your seller for a partial refund. You should be able to figure out if it's 2nd class by the weight. It couls also be that your seller found he'd underpriced himself. Talk to your seller and reach an amicable solution.

ALWAYS e-mail the seller before you go barging in and handing out negatives. Could have just been a mistake and they may refund you the difference.

just sent them a msg thanks guys

ive overcharged a few times and when it is £4 + i contact buyer and apologise - give partial refund - the buyer is always appreciative

there are buyers who think the postage is what is says on parcel - take into consideration the extra 75p for recorded delivery which is not shown on stamp - plus packaging and actual cost of getting to post office

For Royal mail items I work out the actual postage then charge the next group up as I find this generally covers packaging, for couriers I just add a straight 50p as I use recycled boxes and use rubble sacks cut open to flat sheets to wrap it with and a bit of parcel tape.

Dont forget postage costs are actually postage and packing.

It may be an error, obviously see what the seller says. I ordered a cable which I paid for first class delivery however there was no sign of it after it had been dispatched. I got in touch with the seller who had asked someone else to post it and it had gone second-class, the seller then immediately refunded me entirely despite the fact I would have waited to see if the cable would arrive. It did come a few days later but I was impressed with the seller immediately admitting fault and just refunding.

While not all ebay sellers overcharge on postage it's reasonable to say that many of them do, quite often I'll pay postage which would cover the item for next day special delivery to have it arrive in clearly reused packaging with 75p worth of stamps.

Sadly, eBay rip off sellers with high fees, and many sellers then try to get the fees back from buyers by overcharging on postage. It also helps them keep their eBay fees down.

Not a lot you can do about it, though, unless you really want to cause problems by reporting it to eBay.

Does it make any difference? The seller could've sent first class but posted it a couple of days later, so you would have got what you paid for but still be waiting for the item!

The way i see it is when you buy the item you obviusly see the postage costs and agree to it when purchasing, you have to take into account the fact that it hasn't just cost the buyer the price it says on the packet, theres also wrapping costs like brown paper or boxes or posting bags etc plus recorded delivery costs sometimes apply.

That isnt the arguement in this case! if the seller states he will send it first class he/she should send it first class regardless of how much they have charged for p and p.

well the item was advertised with 1st class so thats why its a problem, whenever i sell a item i send it using the postal service that i advertied it with.

The price you have paid for is postage and packaging.
The packaging bit can cost whatever you choose, your time et etc.

I always just put flat rates in as I never know how much it'll cost to post
