been paid cashback in error how to tell tcb?

hi, I've been paid £110 cashback for a contract I took out with BT but cancelled within a day or so. I assumed the claim would be rejected but I've been paid out for a couple of days/weeks I'm not even sure. I'd like to make them aware that they've made an error as I don't feel the money is mine. but I can't for the life of me figure out how to contact them.

second question is would they keep the money or would they pay back to BT? as technically it's not tcb money either. what's the likely outcome I can't be the only person to have a payout when they shouldn't.

are you crazy ... withdraw and never look back

Put it to one side. Wait for someone to contact you about it.

Im sure this has happenend to people before on here, with quidco though. They were told to keep it as it had been paid from the company.

topcashback.co.uk/con…act

You can use that form, I believe. As they don't have telephone number.

Tcb won't be out of pocket, only bt and they screw enough people over. I Had a similar payout before and kept it and never heard anything. That was about 18 month ago too

What he said

You could always take it and donate it to a charity?

Keep it as it will cover the cashbacks that get declined for no reason

Its not yours to keep. Contact TCB and whatever they then tell you (either way) it'll give you peace of mind.

lol that made me laugh I'm being pulled by my conscience one side saying yippee the other going no no it's not yours. my moral compass is conflicted to say the least.

thank you I'll try that. my only issue is I would like BT to have that money back which I'm doubting tcb will do. I'd rather spend it on my kids if that's the likely outcome.

Here's what I'd do...

Ring BT. Tell the first person you speak to (probably a call centre in India), that you've received money from TCB. They'll have no idea what you're talking about.

You've then gone to all efforts to trace the owner of the money and it becomes nigh on impossible to ever prosecute you for the theft (retaining an unlawful credit).

Then go and buy something for your kids that they wouldn't ordinarily have had.

Usually its the other way round - you keep the contract and it gets rejected by BT or TCB for no reason. As someone above said, you could always share some of your good luck with a charity, im sure they'd appreciate it.

my dad purchased £1000 in euros from marks and Spencer on his credit card but the money never left his card. Two months later guilt played on his mind and he called M&S and they wasnt aware of anything owed so they investigated and he paid them the money he owed. They rewarded his honesty with a £10 gift card. He won't be so honest next time.

I congratulate you on wanting to be honest which is getting to be a rarity these days. I hope that honesty is rewarded by TCB allowing you to keep the money. Then you can enjoy it and have a clear conscience.

I'll do that I think but I'll email instead. I don't mind if I lose the money but I don't want tcb profiteering at mine or BT's expense. I can't see tcb being honest and giving it back to BT.

I'll PM you an account number and sort code, just transfer it using those details and it'll be where it belongs within 2 hours (_;)

Quidco once payed me £116 extra cashback but I just kept it, that was two years ago and they never asked for it back.

so I've just called BT the said they know nothing about it as they don't pay it directly to me so to contact tcb. I've just raised a support ticket I think it's called with tcb and I'll update this thread once I know the outcome. this is going to be interesting but my moral compass seems to be reseting itself in the correct direction. can't miss what was never yours I guess.

once found a good few hundred quid scattered at a bus stop went to the police station to hand them in. lying git at the counter said come back in a month to see if they've been claimed if not you'll be able to have it. went back and another guy at counter said we only hold for 7 days or something like that then it gets given to charity. was so annoyed as there was over £500 and money was extremely tight in those days. how the charity put it to good use and it helped someone in need.

this. take it and run.

same thing happened to me when I ordered fibre from SSE. there was a problem and it had to be cancelled (their end).
never heard anything more about it.

my opinion? the level of profit big businesses make is so crazy high this amount makes no difference to them. accidently paying out £100 it's like the little man dropped a penny X)

they refused to pay my sister for hers so take the money and run

How many times in life have you been ripped off and lost out? Keep it and think of it as a balancing out payment, that's how I see these things otherwise you'll spend your life losing out but never gaining

The amount of times Quidco/TCB haven't honoured their deals because the merchant has declined for whatever reason....no brainer, keep the money. If this was me I would've no problems keeping the money with a clear conscience.
