Before i open up my pc...

Is there a program that can tell you what components you have in there? It was a custom built jobby a few years ago and i cant find the receipt with the list of parts that was in it.

Everest Ultimate edition works well for me if, for those saying control panel and device manager wrong answer, that tells you 1% of the story.

what they said. Best program IMO

It won't tell you everything but will be a start there are programs but they usually cost a couple of quid. Best option is to read the serial numbers off the components.

crucials memory search will tell you the true memory of your computer if you use shared memory.

You start with a Motherboard that will house your CPU (processor) that suits it. Then you have a CPU cooling fan. In addition to this is your graphics card, probably a PCI e card now. Then you need memory, possibly 2 or 4 gb of 800 Mhz memory. Then there is your Hard Drive(s). If your looking at upgrading you can possibly keep memory and hard drive, depends on your budget. What are you trying to do? Of course this lot sits inside a case that may or may not need a new power supply.

Its easy putting them all together, the fun comes when you cannot get it to work
