I'm with Barclays right now, thinking of changing just for the fun of it, I don't like the colour of their slogan much and their banks either.

So whats a good one?

good deal but don't you have to bank with them for 6months or so?

So you are with the best bank alredy! keep it going.
If you change,you`ll be back.

agreed about best bank. plus if you don't like their branding then you might be interested to know they're about to re-brand. they're even losing the eagle (too many nazi connotations for their new partner)

what colour slogan are you looking for ... pink maybe???

I don't know if this is true or not, but does it affect your credit rating if you change bank accounts? I know that you are often asked how long you've held your account for, so I guess it must have some impact on your credit score. If you've got no major grief with Barclays then I'd be tempted to stick with them. I've been with them since my Supersavers account nearly 30 years ago and never had any trouble, so not tempted to move.

yes it does cos each time someone looks up your rating, it can be reduced.
A bank account is one of the major ones.
Mike, you're not very account savvy, Barclays pay some of the worst rates on the high street and they don't offer much else.

Banks do not contribute to political parties, they are not allowed to but that does not exclude executives from donating..

The rates only make much difference if you have much money in there. I generally hover around the £0 mark and don't pay much for my agreed overdraft as they seem to have left my account as a graduate account even though I finally left Uni about 10 years ago!

If I did have lots of cash flow then I would certainly consider changing to something with better interest rates, but like I say, with mine I'd probably only be making a couple of quid a year so it's not worth it. I've also got a Barclaycard which I know isn't the best rates, but their customer service has been excellent whenever I've needed it.

Thanks for the suggestion but to be honest, I don't really use the Barclaycard, it's just there for emergencies and unexpected things really. These days there's very little on it most of the time, so I'm not really borrowing, just spending what goes in each month and (very) slowly reducing the almost free overdraft. Also, like you said originally, every time somebody looks up your credit rating it could go down, and my credit rating is actually very good at the moment - I had to take out a loan last year to get a new car when our old one died and went to the great scrap heap in the sky. At the time Barclaycard had the best rate at 6.9% typical, they offered me 6.3% which I can only assume my rating is pretty good at the moment.

Although my finances are not the best, I do keep them in check, and like I said if and when my circumstances improve and I think a change would actually be benificial (and not just for the sake of saving a few quid here and there) then I'll consider changing.

Alliance and Leicester have some good points, including interest on the current account.

chesso is right, the interest rate is good and look out for some intro offers they do from time to time to entice you.
Their logo is rubbish though
