yeah Estrella is a quality lager, I find it quite easy to pick up in Liverpool, though the supermarkets don't seem to stock it regularly anymore

I prefer Magners though as a regular drink

    Banned

ice cold SAN MIGUEL from a bottle abroad (not the UK rubbish!).

    Banks Beer (Barbados)
    Castle Lager (South Africa)

When the supermarkets pick it up it'll probably start getting brewed in the UK under license and go crap.

This isnt the one from Spain is it ? I found this very tinny & got bored of it too easily (had to swap drinks), when in Spain last year.

I had a beer called "Shiner" in Texas last year. Apparently it's a local brew, but it's damn nice!! Tried a local lager in Glasgow at the weekend, St Mungo's I think it was called, it was surprisingly nice & refreshing.

Victoria Bitter or Crown Lager, 2 really nice aussie lagers.

    Mmmmmmm, beer.........

This has to go down as the strangest beer i've ever drunk.

It's a smoked beer, Was like having some smoked cheese and drinking a beer at the same time.

Really couldn't decide whether I like it or not - freaked me out a bit.

Elsie Mo, brewed by Castle Rock. Can be bought in bottles, but it's always better on draught:
    castlerockbrewery.co.uk/sit…889

Usually found in and around Nottingham (Vat and Fiddle by the train station is a good, proper drinking establishment)

Unfortunately don't live in Nottingham any more so an pint of Elsie is a rare treat

I'm off to Nottingham next month for the Robin Hood beer fest at the castle, 700+ beers to Try !!

I'm generally a regular feature for that. Would get there early on the Thurday and return everyday till they ran out. Last year, they were pretty much done on the Saturday night which was a shame. Hope they sort it out this year!

This will be my first year as a non Nottingham resident and won't be able to get back until at least Friday so lets hope they manage to save some beer for me!

Hoegaarden for indulgence. (1 or 2 glasses)

Peroni for quality. (for drinking all night long)

    Efes Pilsen.

I went to one about two maybe three years ago and it was fine on Saturday, I think there was a note on their website saying their holding back more beer this time for Saturday.

Jaipur from the thornbridge brewery and nut brown from the samuel smith brewery

    DarkKnight

    Efes Pilsen.

I really liked that on holiday (Can't remember if it was from Athens or Istanbul - maybe both...). I havent seen it since I got back, although I do live in a small town.

I was recently introduced to Desperados - really liked that.

But in reality, I'll drink anything but Carling...

    Lets hope so!

Not sure which day you plan on going, but if it's the Friday or Saturday, I would recommend going early. I was speaking to some people on the Friday who had joined the queue at around 7 and it took them well over an hour to get in, and that was with the pre-booked tickets!

I hope they get that sorted this year too. Not holding out to much hope though as they seem to have made a pigs ear out of it for the past couple of years!

Once your in though, it's a pretty good craic! I would also recommend sampling some beer from the Blue Monkey brewery, they usually have a little stand somewhere in there! (but not before you track down the Elsie Mo!)

Absolutely legendery stuff, and I thought it was quite nice! We were talking about that beer last weekend in the pub. Didn't realise it was still made? Where can you get it and does it still get you smashed as quick as the 5.6% original?

To be honest it wasn't that bad really, real ale wasn't really that common in chain pubs in the 90's so it was a bit of a USP for Firkin, I remember watching a few England exits from various football tournaments in the one in Manchester (Footage and Firkin)

Cheers for that. Having read through, it's made by Gadds which is apparently stocked in Waitrose. I know where I'll be going tomorrow morning...
