Best car for the budget please?

    Afternoon all,

I need to choose a car:

    - £22,500 or under
    - 4-5 doors
    - under 130 CO2
    - brand new

These are the compulsory requirements, in additional I have 2 kids plus a baby soon so need to have proper 5 seats and boot space not huge but decent enough.
I do around 55 miles per day work commute country A roads and occasional motorway driving.
I would also prefer a manual to automatic gear box.

I looked around and struggling with the CO2 requirement, option are Golf Estate (its pretty long though), Mercedes A180?
Are there any cross that fit within the CO2?

    Thank you in advance!

I had a Golf Estate. It's a very small estate and almost a perfect car. The boot space is great and the option to drop your seats to get even more room makes it a good all-round option. Great for 3 kids. Very solid.

    Mazda 6 Tourer.

provides good info on car reliability based on warranty insurance claims so less possibility for bias or mere opinion. You may have assumptions on which brands are more reliable that will be shattered.

Generally Japanese and Korean cars are still the most reliable. Also Kia is a good option due to the their long 7 year warranty.

Good advice, I would suggest Honda, Toyota, Hyundai or Kia, as being the most reliable, in general terms.

zafira 1.6 . has 7 seats but 2 seats fold flat leaving you with a massive boot. I have a 1.6 powerful engine. Low on co2, quick and cheap to buy. you can get a 63 reg for 10 grand. save yourself ten grand!!

if you buy what car magazine ( or look online ) all the basic information is in there. the magazine has advantages off being able to carry around with you flicking from page to page and writing information in when looking.. it will give you
price of car, emissions, size, mpg, real mpg, tax bracket, info on car and customer feedback rating.. etc etc

How about the Honda civic tourer here 1.6i - dtec, 99g/km co2, a better looking car than the drab golf estate

What about the Hyundai i30 Tourer?

Also looks a good option. Also Hyundai's tend to be more reliable than Kia's even though the same company. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Hyundai's are still made in Korea where as the Kia's are now assembled in Europe for most of the models and not to the same build quality as Korea. I'm pretty sure without checking that on warranty direct Hyundai score higher than Kia.
