that looks good, wouldnt mind a 7.2k rpm one however, but so far that looks slightly better then the one on ebuyer as that was £44.99 as well but delivery on top, or add £5 more onto the order

if ur buying from ebuyer grab a 2.5 sata hdd caddy for £6 mate.

shove in the 40gb, good forward thinking :-D

Rep left for all so far

Best thing I've ever done to my PS3 - especially since PlayTV came out. I got the Play.com 320GB for £45-50 last year.

If you're after a mini step by step installation guide showing up any potential pitfalls involved, I did one in the deal I posted last year, right at the end of the thread. There's a couple of screws on the PS3's HDD enclosure that are troublesome and the heads strip badly if your screwdriver is an exact fit.

ah cheers, ive got a guide here, and said that they very easy to strip! :x

Yeah actually ive been looking at getting Play Tv instead of bothering with sky when i move, as my girlfriend will be working loing hours anyways, and ill be studying harder as my final year at uni, so thought play tv might be an idea instead...

Ok man, I found it was a literal couple - I had to start them off with needle-nose pliers or they wouldn't budge. I explained in detail here:

5400rpm is what you want, PS3 won't read faster than that. Anything faster creates excess heat, so there is absolutely no benefit to buying a 7200rpm one.

Just fitted that one today in mine, was a piece of cake

repped...but...

...however ive been looking at the tests done and the speed does make a difference, and furthermore it creates a couple of extra degrees, but the fan kicks in anyways and then never goes over that heat reached even when the fans kick in.

It will read faster then that as well, as many 7.2krpm's have been tested

Either way i think thats the one im gonna go for.

Oh, that's cool - I hadn't done a heavy amount of research to be honest, just one or two places I saw online advised the 5400rpm was best, but of course you never can trust everything you see online

Rep returned. Good luck with the install

exactly...the speed tests were huge, but enough for a difference especially if installing an OS.
