Ewww wifi, slow, can you not go wired?

could but i have spend countless hours getting ps3 media server to work. so would seem a waste of time plus iv tried that and can not get it to work, and if i did i would continuously have to change from wire to wireless because i play online a lot and dont want to connect it to my laptop when doing so
Just stick the swiss center on or tversity if there are compatible versions i can tell you that the PS3 cant deal with many hd formats and it cant down mix audio either so if you download a movie with a DTS soundtrack unless you have a capable 5.1 setup there will be no sound. The PS3 cant handle 1080p movies so your limited to 720p with ac3 sound and wireless is not the best i had mine hardwired the stuttering will be caused by your G router.
I spent a lot of time messing around with this and eventually came to a solution that suits me. Firstly I would aqquire an MKV file then using this method http:forums.macrumours.com/sho…894 I would convert the 720 or 1080 file using quicktime to an mp4. This process only takes a couple of minutes. This conversion sorts out the audio for the PS3 and leaves the picture as is.
Next I take the mp4 file and copy it to the hard drive on the PS3. I use Medialink to transfer wirelessly (dont normally pay for software but this is the best money ive ever spent). Usually takes around 10 mins.
Unless you are using a wiresless n router it will be difficult to stream 720p and impossible for 1080p. If you follow the mac rumours guide to converting you will be able to play both 1080p and 720p without loss of quality (picture wise anyway).
PM if you want any more info.

you dont need any special software to transfer files across
code.google.com/p/p…ist

works brilliantly for wired connections (and 1080p quality too).... for wireless it's a bit more complicated.
