My best mate & I are looking to go on holiday together for a couple of weeks but can't decide where or what sort of things would be best for "the mother of all holidays".

Any ideas or past experiences?

Depends what you want, I went travelling for 10 weeks, was probs the best … Depends what you want, I went travelling for 10 weeks, was probs the best thing I've done, Hong Kong, Aus, NZ, USA. Vegas is awesome, so is skydiving.

This... what's your budget? How long can you go for? Are you going on the smash for two weeks, or want to see the real life in the back of beyond in Zambia or something?

I went to a couple of the sixsenses resorts in Vietnam as well as travelling from North to South Vietnam and I'd highly recommend it!

Go and live in a different country for a few months! me and the misses after our degrees went and lived in japan for 6 months and we loved it.

Not quite "the sky's the limit" but we don't mind the cost too much cos it'll not be repeated for a while.

As for what sort of holiday, we are open to trying any experience really. So we might end up with a couple of weeks of a meld of things

simple.... Hedonism

Me and one of my mates went to Australia for 3 weeks in November. Best holiday I've ever had, flew to Sydney and then hired a car and travelled up the east coast stopping of for one or two nights at places on the way up. Went up as far as Fraser Island then flew back from Brisbane.

Wouldn't bother going to Australia for 2 weeks though to far too travel. I'd say 3 weeks minimum.

Next year thinking of road tripping between San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Going to do that over 2 weeks and that will be a mother of a holiday!

All depends on your budget and what sort of thing you're after doing as others have said. You going to be partying or sight seeing?!? Bit of both what I'd usually go for!

Vegas !

One word, one destination, one rocking place......Keswick.

Oooh. Sounds like you took the same circle route as I did many moons ago?

LA > San Diego > Vegas (and canyon) > Death Valley > Yosemite > Tahoe > San Francisco > Santa Cruz > Santa Barbara > Santa Monica

OP have a trip to Bali. Superb place

Have you ever considered Rhyl

go into the travel agents with a blindfold, an atlas and a pin, stick said pin in atlas, ask travel agent for one way ticket there, reach 'there', spend 3 days and repeat.

reading that back, blindfold is optional

Yes, have done it twice now, we got married on the shores of Lake Tahoe, it is an amazing trip, spent 3 weeks each time, but hopefully next time in a few years we will spend a little longer.
Just such amazing scenery!

Lots of nice ideas, thanks.
Originally we were thinking of a cruise but then thought we might mix it up a bit.
