Best kind of activity tracker (fitbit etc)

I'm looking to purchase something like a fitbit in the new year. Not wanting something too expensive. Around the £100 mark or less.

The most important features are calories burned, duration/distance I've walked and ran. Also, if it's waterproof that would be an added bonus. Ideally a wrist strap, with good battery life.

If anyone has any recommendations, I'd be very grateful

I have the fitbit surge and love it, the wife has had a couple of cheaper ones that were rubbish but now has the fitbit charge and that is really good.

Can I ask, what the difference is between the two?

Had a fitbit blaze, £149 it was.

Loved it, u til I realised the steps counted was way out. Stood still and waved my hands about and it went up about 20.

Sent it back to Amazon.

Fad.

if you have the o2 app you can get 15% off the fitbit alta, charge2 or blaze. You also receive a £25 google play voucher.Im thinking of going for the alta because i like the slim design.

That's a really good deal. But unfortunately I'm not with o2

Go cheap and cheerful. The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is pretty good and can be found dirt cheap.

So I'll avoid the blaze then X)

I have the charge HR which I like. None of the them are terribly accurate in terms of absolute numbers in either steps or heart rate but they give you trends in how you are doing which is very usefull information

I've got the Fitbit one. Very accurate steps-I can watch it counting on my phone as I walk along! Measures distance, number of flights of stairs climbed (or equivalent!) calories burned and sleep patterns. Its not worn on the wrist, so genuinely measures steps, not arm movements, but clips to your waistband, or I clip my to my bra-totally hidden! Under £70 from a,Aaron, just ordered one for my husband

Yeah it's a pretty good app, I've had mine for 6+ months now, I have the 1S model, but the 2 is newer and under £20, both use the same app but the 2 has a screen so you can check it separately. My whole family has a 1S now and a few friends/colleagues have also bought them. My boss has a fitbit and it doesn't seem to do anything extra, other than need charging more.

The mi band 2 is pretty solid. I'm really happy with my mi band 1. What you say about the charging is true. My Mi Band 1 lasts around 2 months on a single charge (in fact I've charged it twice since late august.) and I believe the 1S is similar in terms of battery life. The Mi band 2 should last around 3 weeks which is still around 4 times that of a fitbit charge hr for example.

It's fairly good. You can set step goals, set a few alarms to vibrate on your wrist and set it to vibrate when you recieve notifications from up to 3 apps as well as texts/phone calls. You can also keep track of your weight (manually of course) and sleep.

Thanks for all your replies folks. Currently deciding between the fitbit flex 2 and the Xiaomi Mi 2.

If anyone has used a fitbit flex 2, I'd be interested in hearing if you recommend.

Withings is an often overlooked fitness tracker brand. It's more of a premium brand (but not silly prices) now owned by Nokia and the watches look lovely, some of their range is waterproof and the battery life is excellent.

Thanks for that. I'll give them a Google search and see what comes up
