Hello,

We are looking to borrow about £6k or £7k for a conservatory, the best loan i can find is Halifax at 8.1% then £50 quidco, looking to take it over about 72 or 84 months.

I think at the moment with halifax you can only do the personal loan over 6 years as the maximum, can you not get a home owner loan? as personal loan rates are a bit high moneysupermarket.com/loa…123

Your best option is always to approach the institution you either bank with or hold a credit card with. They will offer you the best rates as they know your payment history.

My credit card is with Barclaycard platinum and they offered me a rate of 4.9% for the life of the balance transfers, and I just wrote myself a cheque to pay into the bank.

I have applied for the simplicity card as it is 6.8% interest for the life time of the card, lets hope i can get a 6k limit. Unless i can get another card with less interest in the mean time.
