Best motherboard for gaming?

Hi There,
I'm sorry to keep asking computer questions. I'm very new to the pc master race. I'm in the process of building a gaming pc.
I'm looking for a motherboard that will be good for both gaming and video editing.
I dont mind spending that little bit more if it means it will last me for some time. I'm looking for a minimum of 1080p in gaming.

I currently have an I5 6600K, 16 GB GSkill Trident Z DDR4. Vaper X R9 280X.

I'm been recommended in a previous thread that the Asrock Z170 Extreme 4.

Would that be sufficient enough for what I want or shall I wait it out a bit longer and see if any prices fall for other ones. I know there was an Asus Hero for £130.00 recently.

These ones have caught my eye.

amazon.co.uk/Z17…170

amazon.co.uk/Int…170

amazon.co.uk/ASU…NGA

amazon.co.uk/d/7…QD9

I'm quite interested in that last one but obviously I'm not that knowledgable.

Thank you in advance.

Any that has the features you want, really. You don't have to splash out a ton on motherboards because they don't affect performance, they just provide connections for hardware. To overclock you'll need a Z170, but besides that I'd just get whatever's cheapest, personally.

Your choice of motherboard has no direct influence on gaming performance. As above, you can only gain additional features and interfaces, not FPS in games.

I would recommend looking into VRM cooling and on board sound issues. Pretty much you want something that wont bork if you stress it with power hungry devices. Also there are performances differences between boards.

Not in terms of FPS there isn't.

Is there any specific motherboard you would recommend?

According to this it can vary around 5fps. I guess most parts effect performance on some level and a mobo is pretty major

Sometimes it does

It sounds like you want to just fire a game in and play. Buy a ps4 or xb1 mate

4% with no details of the test procedure. If they're testing that manually then 4% could easily be within normal variation.

Even if you give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it's a real effect then there's no consistency between games anyway, the ASUS Maximus VIII Gene is at the top in the first 1920x1080 test, the bottom in the second test and in the middle in the third test.

If you're building the ultimate £3k gaming PC then £50 more for an extra 4% could be a good deal. On a system without an SSD, the motherboard is really not the place to be splashing out money.

What ? You're not going cheap on the motherboard are you ? rocking with the pc chips h170.

Just get the cheapest Z170 board that's the right size for the case you're getting.
