Hi,

There have been a lot deals posted but what is the best graphics card for a N54L? If possible with a link to it! To allow 3D bluray playback by preference!

Best how?

Fastest? Quietest? Cheapest? All subjective. Best middle ground for all 3... XFX HD6450. If the N54L is anything like the N40L it has a PSU that wont sufficiently power much more powerful graphics cards without being overloaded or adding in a very expensive PSU swap.

Before you ask, does come with low profile bracket, it's fanless, plays faultlessly Full HD video and outputting my 3D (SBS rips) to my TV. It even plays games fairly well on a basic level, I've got my Wii emulator on there and a host of low end games to be enjoyed from the sofa.
Thanks Astec! So whats the difference between that one and pcworld.co.uk/gbu…tml

?
The one I listed is made by XFX and that ones made by Asus. Overall it's pretty much the same specs just that one is more expensive.

Graphics processor (name) AMD Radeon 6450 (same core)
Processor frequency 625 Mhz (Same frequency)
Stream processors 160 cores (Same)
Memory capacity 1 GB (Same)
Memory bus width 32-bit (Same)
Memory frequency 1200 MHz (600 MHz DDR3) (Slightly higher)

One thing about the XFX and the passive heat sink is that the one on it is more groved, the Asus one you linked to is a radial pattern. The way the fan set up in the microserver is I'd suspect it would offer a better cooling as the fan draws air in from the front towards the rear and the card's fins will line up nicely to suit that.

Thank you for the detailed reply! Final question, can this do dolby (I realise it isn't in the description) or is a larger investment required for such things?

Also to answer your question from previous

Also, whats the advantage of this card over the HD5450?

That should give you an idea of the advantages of a 6450 over a 5450. Yes it's a different manufacturer and a fan assisted model but the differences should be minor.

The Dolby light on my Onkyo through HDMI is lit up so I'd go with yes.
