Best Netbook for under £500?

Found 27th Jul 2009
Just a quick question regarding cheap(ish) netbooks really, want a decent effort for Uni in September, was tempted by the Toshiba NB205, until I saw the battery pack at the back of it! Disgusting, want decent(ish) performance, although not a necessity, I'm not going to be programming on it, mainly for taking notes and word processing. Would like to know your experiences with some basically.

imo you could get a reasonable ultramobile laptop for £500, why opted to have a netbook?

anyway, google samsung NC10 (netbook), samsung Q320/Q310 (laptop), Dell XPS m1330, HP mininote (2140?)

here you go: trustedreviews.com/fil…y=8... mind you that the price is not uptodate, so youll get them cheaper nowadays probably

Want a notebook for taking notes, and don't really want a big laptop to have to carry about. Fine with a steady netbook, plus got a decent desktop at home so performance a major issue. That doesn't mean I don't want the best performance for my money! Portability and size are a priorty.

Presumably keyboard quality as well though? Or do you plan to use an HHKB Pro or similar better quality external keyboard?

Not fussed. Doubt i'll be using an external keyboard. Sticking to the standard will be fine.

There's a bunch of new netbooks coming out in August for the Back-to-School promotions. Best of the bunch looks to be the Sony Vaio W-series which should tick all the boxes.
