Best place or way to find best deal on a wedding photographer?

Anyone got any advice on how to find the best deal for a wedding photographer?

I've done the usual, Googled, checked local press, put an add on a couple of local sites asking for quotes, but am wondering if there's a better way way. I'm on a strict budget for the wedding so every pound saved can go towards something else for the wedding.

Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

The best quote I've managed so far was £400 but that didn't include any photos of us getting ready for the wedding. But the photographer is an excellent one.

I could have recommended who we had for ours but we are in Brum.

£400 seems very cheap.

And now if you wouldn't mind leaving the room a one of just your wife to be.

£400 is very cheap.
Only other thing you can do is maybe call your local collage and ask a learner photographer to cover it and they can use the images for there portfolio.
Be careful though as they won't be as professional.
End of the day you get what you pay for and IMO the photographer is one of the most important thing of the day as you have to look at those pics for the rest of your life.

I know of an excellant photographer called Gemma Parkman who is Leeds based..........she does some superb modern photographer at weddings and Im sure you would get a good deal from her too as she is very reasonable.

I wouldn't worry about cost only ... recommendation is far more important.

After all, this is your big day

If the photographer is 'cheap 'n cheerful' and gets it wrong .. you can hardly try again a week later.

Maybe ask a few friends / family or even in local bridal shops. if the same name keeps coming up as good .. try them first

Also wanted to say she is on facebook too.....so you can check out what her other customers have said about her too.............as getting other peoples opinions about her style and quality Im sure will be one of your concerns.
And as emma says above you really do get what you pay for its worth weighing it up seriously

Thank you for your replies and advice. I have contacted a photographer and am awaiting their reply.

Unfortunately cost is a big issue for me as I work for the local council and have been subject to some drastic cuts which has seen my wage greatly reduced, hence the strict budget for the photographer.

Pop in your local independent camera shop and ask there.
