Best place to get some Euros?

    Banned
I'm off to Amsterdam for a few days, but where has the best exchange rate for changing pounds into euros?

Would prefer to go in person, rather than doing it online.

    Rep given to all helpers.
    Thanks
    David

We always look at the M&S prices - they've been coming up good for us for years

considering exchanging the money on return as welL!

Post office mate, they seem to offer the best deal around

have a good time in the dam, and feel free to post me a "present" back for my help lol :w00t:

dollar is not looking good (had some problems earlier and plunged) so euro will be up tomorrow, post office is good

How much are you going to change?

I always change what I need for the first 24 hous anywhere in the UK, but change the bulk once abroad as they tend to give better exchange rates. Though I haven't been abroad since the pound fell so much.

That's what I heard. I think I will change £50-£100 and then change some when I get there. Should I take the English cash in hand or just use my debit card?

    £200.

For that amount, it's probably not worth going out of your way to find a deal.
Just get from wherever is the most convenient.

    Ok, thanks for the advice.

Best place - an ATM in Amsterdam

    Travelex.

Order online and pickup on the ariport on your way to Amsterdum (Dont try to buy on the airport though, it will be a rip off).

    Good things:

    1. Best price guarantee in the UK
    2. Optional "buy back plus" £3.99 which guarantees that travelex buys your foreign money on the same rate on which you purchased from them in case the exchange rate goes down

During my last trip to Europe, I bought some cash from them as a backup and used nationwide debit card to withdraw cash there, the exchange rate was always better than the one offered by bureues de change in the UK.

I will differ with that with due respect. Most of the debit cards charge at least 2.5% cash withdrawl charges on top of poor exchange rate, so it could be worthwhile to check what your bank charges ]here
